She had a bad qualifications round and warmups - even her teammates said they were scared watching her warmup so whatever the issue was yesterday wasn’t the first day it was prob a day or two before that.

Not saying they would have won the gold but the alternate would have had more time to warm up - the person that replaced her on bars literally had 30 seconds to warmup

I agree with what you are saying, but the alternate wasn't in Japan that night. See link below. She had been in Japan, but had to leave the country. Crazy covid rule. If they had dropped Biles a few days earlier, yes. But subbing in the alternate that night after warm-ups wasn't an option.

She’s the best ever at what she does and she has to step away from her team. She’s going to be talked about. That’s how sports work. No one should have to explain this to you.
Of course they will talk about it but it doesn't need to be all day everyday. There are others out there (in all sports) still competing for their country that should get most of the focus now. If she can't/won't compete then move on from her and worry about the ones that can.

We will disagree on that. I think what is most plausible is what we witnessed on camera.
But we don’t know that they didn’t have a team meeting prior to what we saw on camera. I would bet they did have a team meeting. Now they may not have discussed Biles but it certainly isn’t crazy to think they did discuss it. I would bet they all discussed how they were feeling leading up to the competition. Teams in competitions like this meet frequently.

“Due to safety precautions, the Olympic artistic gymnastics teams were allowed to name up to five team alternates, otherwise referred to as "replacement athletes." Five were announced for the men: Cameron Bock, Allan Bower, Brandon Briones, Alex Diab, and Akash Modi. Four were announced for the women: Kayla DiCello, Kara Eaker, Emma Malabuyo, and Leanne Wong.”

I simply don’t find your conjecture as plausible as what was shown on camera. It’s plausible, but to me not “as plausible.”

Not too shocked at some of the comments on here. After all, it is the new norm for people to jump to conclusions with minimal knowledge of the subject, then express their outrage.

I was puzzled by her decision to withdraw until I heard the interview with former Olympian Tara Lipinski. She said that Simone Biles experienced what some athletes call “the yips”. As Tara was explaining it they showed Biles’ vault attempt where she suddenly looked lost while in the air, and she bailed out and landed without completing her mid-air trick. I can understand why she pulled out. I’ll reserve judgement on whether it was the right call or not. Not sure I agree with those that are calling heroic. I do feel sympathy for her. She was in a no-win situation.
I know exactly what she is going through with the yips thing. My daughter fell on her head while tumbling and it shook her up. It took her a while to get back to where she was but she didn't quit or make everything about her. She just took the stunt out for competitions until she got her confidence back to do it. We will see how mentally strong Biles is if she gets back out there.

Sure but how is that her issue?

  • I think Biles made the right choice. If she can't land the vault because she's going to hurt herself, she doesn't need to be out there.
  • It's not a mental health issue like depression or anxiety, it's like a mental block similar to Chuck Knobloch or that dude who played for the Cardinals
  • It's damaging to her legacy as the GOAT. GOATS perform.
  • People who are calling her a hero for this are LOSERS; this is a let down
  • Kerri Strug is a hero
  • Results matter - especially in the Olympics
  • All of the above is irrefutable

Because only limp dicked lefties are celebrating her failure. Like legit celebrating her failure - as in thinking her failure is more impressive than winning.
Would it then be fair to call out jackasses like Charlie Kirk for calling her a selfish sociopath? Want to call out random "lefties", then call out the "righty" bro's who want their side to be angry at Biles as if she owes us something.

What about Clay Travis essentially calling her a traitor 😂 these idiots can only focus on one thing at a time and for whatever reason they spend most of that time trying to wrap their brains around……politics.

Absolutely - I think even Clay Travis is a dick for calling her a quitter too. Charlie Kirk is real bad. She quit because she legitimately knew she couldn't do the routine. She admitted her potential failure. She's not selfish. She's got the yips (or the twisties) as they call it. But again - the all-timers don't get the yips!

A leader would say I'm not doing interviews about me not being out there to perform when my teammates are. They are the ones that should be getting the attention for their efforts and not me. You can talk about me at a later time when it won't take the focus off of the other athletes out there.

A leader would say that? Really? What leader would decide they can’t talk about their own issues. I’ve yet to meet a leader that felt that they were the only ones in the room who couldn’t speak.

She says that and you will say she needs to face the music and tell us why she withdrew. It’s also amazing how many of you suddenly care about womens gymnastics. Bring a show you all hate women so much

First it’s not a failure. Second I think it’s called supporting someone who made the toughest decision of her young life.

Wayne is just worried about liberal dicks first and foremost. Then he will take care of the the Simone Biles issue. A true American patriot.

Lol... dude, if you're the favorite, the most talented, the best... and you can't compete because you have the yips, news flash, you failed. She's not a failure, but she failed in this instance. And I said I respect her decision. She made the right call.

Hell, Chris Paul failed in the NBA finals. But he's still a great basketball player.

Phelps talked about how difficult the spotlight was, and the immense pressure. And yet, he has 23 gold medals.

This isn't JUST pure talent. The true GOATS deliver at all costs. You want to be the best, you need to have the physical side AND the mental side.

Lol then you go do it bud.
How can you miss the point this bad?
  • Simone Bilas = Great Olympics Champion and perhaps, at her peak, the best gymnast ever
  • Simone Bilas has an admitted mental block that's causing her to drop out Olympics events
  • Simone Bilas probably made the right call, as she may not have been able to even land any sort of vault
Do you agree the above are true? If so...
  • Had Jordan been at the line with a second to go in a championship game and said, "I can't do this I have the yips and there is no way I'm making this shot", would that make you think less or more of him as a player?
And if your answer is yes, do you agree with the following statement?
  • Simone Bilas failed in the team and all around events this particular Olympics. She did not deliver.
