"One Night in March", I was there....

I have said before, but we have many new posters...

I was in Lee Hall Auditorium the night in 1963 we were summoned there, and Dr. Colvard told our packed house that he'd just received word that the plane (carrying our MSU team for the historic game against Loyola) had just cleared Mississippi air-space.

The game was afoot!

The students rocked the roof in Lee Hall.
Our team was finally claiming the NCAA tournament berth they'd earned for years, but been denied.

Sadly, we lost that first game to the eventual champions, but that was an historic moment for Mississippi. And, MSU.

I'll never forget the excitement of that moment at our STATE.

Appreciate our history; appreciate our tradition.

The sad thing I've heard is that we were a year too late. I believe that the 1962 team was considered one of the best State teams of all time and could have made a run at the title.

You're mistaken ... you need to post more.

I started going to the BB games in '62 & '63. The stands were packed and they kept asking for everybody to 'squeeze in' so more could sit in the bleechers. The atmosphere was intoxicating. It could have been freezing outside but even with the big doors open above the south goal and the windows open above the bleechers, it was at least 95[SUP]0

[/SUP]I was just a youngster, but the memories of those times are still vivid.

Speaking of movies...

...why hasn't a movie been made about this? It's really an iconic moment in the history of Southern/American race relations. Yet nobody knows about it. I don't want to start a pissing contest over actors, directors, producers & the logistics of filiming. I am just saying this is a compelling story that should be made into a movie. And unlike the Michael Oher movie, it would have the added benefit of being true.
