I have played many of the great golf courses in the US....Pinehurst #2, Pebble Beach, Torrey Pines, Bethpage Black, Sawgrass....just to name a few.
Harbour Town remains my favorite course out of all of those, and probably my favorite course of all time. Most of those courses were quite punishing, and on some I didn't even break 90. Harbour Town is playable, and just requires an excellent short game. Its not terribly long. Some holes are somewhat narrow, but not to the point of inducing claustrophobia. Its last line of defense are the tiny little greens that are hard as granite. I think I hit 3 greens in regulation and still shot in the low 80s. Plus, I had a birdie-par-birdie-par finish to win everyone's money.
Of course, I'm heading to Kiawah next weekend, so we'll see if Harbour Town can keep its place.
