IMO, not much room to talk about our matte helmets after sporting those in a beat down

For a program that has spent the better part of 15 years trying to get away from the "old South" thinking, doesn't a "confederate"gray uniform represent the old south?

If they were white they would have looked better than their regular road jerseys.

I still will never understand that...
but if "Old South" racial issues were a determining factor in WHERE a black athlete chose to go "play sports" in college, the SEC would be a very weak conference in ALL sports.

I know we all like to revise history to make it look like ONLY the Mississippi Rebels/ Bears were a part of the "Old South", but truth and facts kind of get in the way of that.

Every Southern University has many confederate ancestry attachments. Not just out hated rival the un-Bearables.

Thats just not a jump. That is what gets me. And, I am not talking about just the kids that go play football. I fully realize if you are getting some spending money. But, the kids that just WANT to go there is absurd to me.<div>
</div><div>Can anyone on here tell me who the first black person admitted to MSU was? I honestly couldn't tell you until a couple of years ago they did a story on him in the alumni magazine. However, I can definitely tell you who the first one to TSUN was...</div><div>
</div><div>Its not a matter of re-writing history to make it look like TSUN is the only program that was part of the old south. I would say its the fact that they are one of the only ones that "CHOOSE" to still want to be a part of the old south. By wearing the gray of the confederates, playing from dixie with love, wanting to wave the rebel flag, wanting to keep col. reb. Do I need to go on???</div>

Looks like they had on gray cotton jerseys. At first I thought each jersey had it's own random pattern, then I realized that was just where the jersey was wet.

Ole Miss and Georgia all flew Confederate flags (started after the 1948 Executive Order by Harry Truman to integrate the military)...."tradition" that had to be officially discontinued. LSU waved yellow and purple confederate flags. Alabama had a tradition of Governors standing in the doors of its entranceways to keep prospective students out. Mississippi State rang cowbells.....hmmmmm, one of these things is not like the other.<div>
</div><div>The Cowbell could be proudly and happily rung by people of all races, creeds, and colors. No cowbell ever burned a cross, no cowbell ever stood in the doorway of an Admissions office, and no cowbell definitely ever lynched anybody. </div><div>
</div><div>The Cowbell is the progressive face of the Modern South.</div>

once in NFL is a race thing. Like, once they're on their respective teams, do a few of the leaders on the team tell them that they have to claim something else, because they see ole miss as racist and don't want anyone on their team repping them?

Just a theory with no facts to prove it, but don't tell me you don't think it's highly possible. "Because ole miss sucks" is not a good reason; lots of teams have sucked and not experienced this phenomenon.
