Yankee Stadium

Why would Syracuse give up a home game against Pitt? ‘Herm cut a really, really good deal’ syracuse. com

I guess that is better than the Meadowlands?
Well, maybe not.

"Power Four athletics" lol. Pure desperation from a dying league.

It's power 2 athletics. He's an AD doing anything he can anyway he can to raise capital because their payouts are so low and they are trying to keep pace. It's a fools errand.

That league will be something akin to the AAC as soon as their GOR comes close to an end.

They just hired a nutritionist this year. Our lacrosse program has had one for 4 years lol

They should focus more on academics due their sinking profile. Athletics just isn't it for them.

I remember the night before signing the Big Ten contract and 75% of this board figured the Big Ten would demand Rutgers to play at the Meadowlands for Ohio State and Michigan. Dolan blew that out of the water. Saying Rutgers gets to decide where they play and most didn't believe still. 11 years after and not one game in the swamp. The biggest waste of money ever. MetLife is a architectural dump. Was there just once. Unfortunately it was EL game. I'll return to watch him get up off the turf. And only then. I'd really like 🙏 to go back for that!

The thing that always baffles me about this kind of thing is it's not even "Yankee Stadium", just some place that took the name.
It's the yankee parking lot next to the grave that Ruth built.

Syracuse was willing to move the game for a variety of reasons, athletic director John Wildhack said, with benefits ranging from recruiting New Jersey to connecting with alumni to appealing to future undergraduate students.

Recruiting NJ? Really???

They could have put a roof on the thing and make it the premier stadium in the Metro area but the owners cheaped out with the excuse of wanting the winter weather to help their teams.

They still perpetrate that line of horsesh*t from Bill "High on His Own Farts" Parcells about how the "swamp winds" can be manipulated through the building by having no roof and opening the delivery doors. Having a roof meant that under a certain temperature or precipitation level the NFL could dictate the roof be closed.

The building is a hard-to-navigate, gray, soulless dump.

Don’t rile them up. After all, they beat us the last time we played in 2021. Oh, oops…

Yeah but at least they beat us in basketball last time though right

OOPS No

Well maybe they won the last football game before that right

Oh right RU won 8 of the last 11 games

Oh well about academically?

In 2009 an executive who had some role in the construction of the place came to give a talk in one of my sport management classes. First thing we asked him was why they didn't include a roof. He basically said that while the cost of the roof itself wasn't too bad, the cost of ongoing maintenance was too high. I believe I have read something about some other stadium that has a retractable roof that is no longer used for the same reason, so perhaps it's not an unreasonable explanation. The stadium still sucks either way though.
