I think UNC wins by 10+ and they'll win the Natty by 20 against USC and maybe 6 if it's the Zags. Since this is college basketball and anything is possible, I can see UNC having an off night and shooting terrible in the second half. If that happens Oregon better shoot lights out and stay outta foul trouble. I still say if the game is close the refs bail them out.

Yea, I felt a little better with Kansas than I do Oregon ya knucklehead. I'm sure you are picking Oregon.
Its a toss up. If I had to put money down, it would be on UNC. However, if this is a close game in the final minutes, all of my money would be on Oregon.

Oregon beat UCLA with that small lineup, so if the chips fall their way, they could get the W. However, all of this scares me that they are going to hang banner #6. I guess they will hang a banner either way, they love those "we got further than Duke" banners.

I hope Oregon is nasty, physical, in your face, aggressive, chippy and know how to get back down the darn court to play defense after they score. OFC

I have never seen two climb over people's backs more than hicks and Meeks and not get called for it in my life.

The play that made me chuckle on Sunday was when Meeks essentially had Adebayo bear hugged on the block when he went up, then when Bam's shot missed and he tipped in the follow-up they called him for over the back. It was one of those moments where you just put up your hands and concede.

I know exactly what you're talking about. That missed call shocked me. But I didn't mind because Berry can't draw a foul on the drive to save me, you, or timritterus

And the refs don't call a thing and screw over UNC. That would make me smile.

Like last year against Nova?

I don't think you guys were screwed in the championship game. Most of the 50/50 calls late didn't go your way, but I don't define that as being screwed.

I was joking.

Officials let them bang and we didn't adjust. Sometimes the cookie crumbles they way

It's so easy to blame the refs for everything. That being said, they were a big factor in UK losing the game last weekend. If called evenly in the first half, UK wins that game. It happens. TIFWIW, if the NCAA had GU, Oregon, and 2 SEC teams in the FF, it would be bad for business.

One of the biggest no calls was when Jackson got that breakaway layup and stopped to let the defender go by. He was sprinting down the court, being trailed by a defender, and he tried to stop all of his momentum so the defender would fly by. He shuffled his feet right under the basket as the UK player flew past Jackson and out of the play. The ref was looking directly at the play, and called nothing.

UK scores the next possession and setup their press on the inbounds. UK had Jackson trapped in a corner, and we're clearly not trying to foul because they were only down one possession with 50 seconds or so to go. The ref calls a foul and UNC walks down to shoot free throws.

Their matchup with Oregon is similar to the matchup they have with us IMO. Oregon is very much perimeter oriented and have a handful of really good guards/wings. Oregon has the edge on the perimeter, and UNC has the advantage inside. If UNC let's their perimeter guys get going, it could be a long night for the holes.

I think Brooks matches up well with Jackson. Brooks is a good defender and is a really physical player/defender. Jackson doesn't play as good when gets roughed up a bit.

As much as they have improved, you still have to make UNC beat you from the outside. Berry and Jackson are their only proven shooters. You must limit their opportunities around the hoop, that is what gets them through when the outside shots don't fall. Oregon does a good job of switching up defenses and keeping the offense uncomfortable. Hopefully Oregon can stay one step ahead of them.

Oregon is no push over. Do I think we're the better team? Yes. But as dukiejay pointed out, Duke beats South Carolina more times than not, Kansas beats Oregon more times than not. That's why this tournament is so nerve racking. Because anyone can beat anyone on any given day. Oregon is no exception.

One thing that heavily concerns me is Berry. He's got two bad ankles right now and 6 days isn't a whole long time to rest up. He's a tough kid, tougher than Lawson, but will he be as effective? If Oregon's guards hit their shots and make life hard for our backcourt they can definitely win.

That being said, their frontcourt is pretty thin. They don't have anyone that matches up well with Jackson, and we have 4 decent big guys compared to their 1.

In the end, it really boils down to who makes the shots and who can play their game most effectively. I like UNC's chances of course, but we are by no means a guarantee to win it all.

Oh, and anyone who thinks there was a conspiracy to screw us over in the title game last year is a fool. Sometimes you get the calls, sometimes you don't.

I feel good about Oregon. They are not used to playing with bigger players on them. Put Pinson on Ennis. Jackson on Brooks (he the SF?). Hicks on Dorsey. And Meeks on Bell. And Berry on their nonfactor guy they play all the time.

This gives us a height advantage at every position besides Berry but the guy is basically a nonfactor on offense.

We should be able to pound inside at will and Jackson should be able to shoot over his defender. Keep them from shooting 3s with superior height and get Bell in foul trouble by pounding inside and this should give us the offensive glass at will.

I feel like Oregon has to play great to win. Can happen. But I feel confident.

I'm in a better mood today, so I'll say I think all 3 teams left can beat the cheaters. I think that Gonzaga has the best shot at it. SC could have a UVA impact and limit them to 43 points. Oregon resembles us.

Somebody get this done.

You're more confident than I am. I don't give South Carolina any shot. They matched up well with us, but UNC creates too many problems for them. Oregon resembles us, but I still think they're a lesser version. They need both Brooks and Dorsey to be great or they can't win. I'd agree on Gonzaga. They're the one team remaining I think can beat UNC. If they're shooting well, along with their size, they can create some problems. They will need the freshman Collins to be better than he was in the regional though.

Good post. Last year Nova stormed through the tourney en route to their title. They were dismantling teams, including a beatdown of Oklahoma. We took them to the brink and just came up short.

I don't see a team like that this year. We could easily lose to any team, but if we play to our potential, we shouldn't lose. However, 20 year old amateur athletes don't always meet fan expectations.

My biggest concern remains Berry's ankles.

You also have to factor in the foul situation and we all know which team will be in foul trouble.

Have UNC fans ever sent death threats to a ref after a loss like some other fanbase?

Thats pretty sad...Do you really wish the scandal had NEVER been uncovered, and athletes continued to be denied a legit education???!!

OFC

Dude it's an obvious joke....denied a clear education? Honestly I don't have a strong opinion on the scandal just tired of it dragging out, I wish the NCAA would do whatever they think they're going to do and be done with it.

If you think that all those kids you see on the court or field could actually qualify academically or are not steered into easier programs/classes then you don't understand the NCAA. I don't support anything that happened at UNC but the age of the "student athlete" in revenue generating sports has long been dead. Plenty of changes need to happen but most of us already knew that.

"Dude," are you one of those UNC fans who is going to tell us all here at DI it goes on everywhere???? Lmao, organized scandals for over two decades are universal in college athletics?? Sure we know corners are cut, but it was down to a science in Chapel Hill, and not just hoops(although AFAM started under Dean as a hoops major).

Puhlease dont give me the "wish the NCAA would be done with it" argument either. Your own army of lawyers continues to throw everything against the wall hoping something will stick to the tune of $18mil....Its also called delay tactics.....
