No they wouldn’t.If this really happens, Rutgers football would be in serious trouble.
every year something happens that makes some fans feel Rutgers is in serious trouble. If this really happens, Rutgers football would be in serious trouble.
We finish last or 2nd to last in the division every year. If FSU and Clemson join, we still finish last or 2nd to last…nothing changes, provided Indiana stays in the league. If this really happens, Rutgers football would be in serious trouble.
Maybe and doesn't feel right but do we let them just join the SEC?FSU & Clemson = unnecessary
I think if the SEC wanted them they would be there already and even if they were to join the SEC I think it’s better for RU in the long run.Maybe and doesn't feel right but do we let them just join the SEC?
assuming we cannot ever get betterIf this really happens, Rutgers football would be in serious trouble.
Wouldn’t change RU’s fortunes one bit. If you can’t swim, it doesn’t matter how deep the water is.
We’re just in this for the money.
I think it would be great to get these teams.

Yeah, not following rujmm's, logic here. I mean, yes, he is eternally doom and gloom but we are already in one of the top 2 conferences. Is the fear they try to kick us out? Or that we just wont be able to compete? #1 ain't happening and #2 is where we already sit. Can only get better from here.Unless the depth is less than your height.
They have to notify the league by 8/15Today, Wednesday is supposed to be the day, if anything were to happen
I think it is a board of trustees meeting today at FSU, not a ACC meetingThey have to notify the league by 8/15
Gun to my head, I think they’d do what Texas and OU did in announcing with a two year lead time, thereby entering the B1G by 2025
I know I’m just saying at todays meeting, whatever decision is made I’d assume would be rolled out for 2025I think it is a board of trustees meeting today at FSU, not a ACC meeting
Some, think it is coming up at that meeting
WhichWhen people talk about “good for RU” it has nothing to do with the competition. It’s always about the long term fear of the musical chairs game ending without RU having a seat in a super conference…. From this perspective, we want the BIG to stick with flagship public universities with strong research programs and good academic reputations. As long as that’s a priority, RU fits right in and is safe based on its geography.
ok, which the conference isn’t no matter who it does or doesn’t add.Unless the depth is less than your height.
Hard pass on Clemson. ot a good fit.
This payout is widely reported, but it might be the way FSU wants it, and maybe the ACC has the right to demand full payment, in an attempt to block the moveI had an article pop up on my phone earlier today that claimed FSU is agreeing to a record $300 million buyout with the ACC to be paid at $30 million per year over ten years. The theory is they would still be better off financially with B1G bucks, no whammies.
100 mil is the exit fee - I don’t believe there’s anyway to get out if thatThis payout is widely reported, but it might be the way FSU wants it, and maybe the ACC has the right to demand full payment, in an attempt to block the move
Someone mentioned that there is an additional 100 million owed due to another provision in the contracts
I think the big ten takes these two if they can get themFSU & Clemson = unnecessary
As I understand it, the absolute biggest exposure if the ACC GOR was ironclad is that is a school leaves:100 mil is the exit fee - I don’t believe there’s anyway to get out if that
300 mil is estimate what’s owed to conference re GOR - With deferred payments being the widely recognized method as of now
YesAs I understand it, the absolute biggest exposure if the ACC GOR was ironclad is that is a school leaves:
-they pay a $120 million exit fee
-they DON’T get paid the $30 million in annual tv rights until the contract ends in 2036
-the ACC keeps the TV rights for the school until the contract ends in 2036 so the school has nothing to offer a new conference.
Is the thinking at FSU that it would be worth it to work out a settlement where they would pay the exit fee and compensate the ACC for the $30 million annual payments (which would total $3-400 million), as long as what they gain in the settlement is the ability to walk with control of their TV rights to a new conference?
I think it would be more like 40 if you account for the exit fee, but I can see why that would work for FSU.Yes
If they make 90 from B1G, they pay Acc 30 and net 60 profit
I guess that would workI think it would be more like 40 if you account for the exit fee, but I can see why that would work for FSU.
I can see why there is a chance the ACC would go for it as well. I don’t think it would open the flood gates for a bunch of schools to leave, because most don’t have the high priced landing spot waiting for them and there are political considerations with a lot of the schools.
In a way, it kind of strengthens the GOR for the ACC because a school admitted they had to negotiate to get out instead of challenging it. Then , they could just invite UConn as a replacement and strengthen the basketball, which is what they really care about anyway.
With USC and UCLA joining next year, do you think we stay at 20 conference games or 22 ?If B1G adds 4 teams - how does the NCAA Tournament selection committee respond/adapt?
Would they send 10, 11, 12 or more teams, if deserving, to the NCAA Tournament?
Does the B1G go to 22 conference games? 24?
Why not? I want all the best teams and we need to step up to competeClemson would not be a good addition for us at all. We don’t want them in the BIG.
What would be the source of the $90 million?Yes
If they make 90 from B1G, they pay Acc 30 and net 60 profit
Assumed B1G tv payment via added revenueWhat would be the source of the $90 million?
Adding Florida State to the B1G media deal would require agreement between the B1G conference, multiple media players, the 14 current B1G schools, UCLA, USC, the ACC conference, ACC schools, Florida State, and possibly Florida politicians because the ACC exit would cost mid-9 figures.Assumed B1G tv payment via added revenue
