Two things Rangers fans:
Who is the goalie tonight??
And what about Zac Jones on the 3rd pair with Schneider and just leave him alone.
I’ve got information from an insider he’s the best defenseman in AHL.
I do not think the Ranger brass feels an obligation to play Mikkola, he was not the focus of the trade.

Halak is in tonight.

Ive heard very good things about zac jones too. However, drury and especially gg want size on the blue line. Zac jones is likely to be moved this offseason along with someone like goodrow as a sweeter to move cap off the books

I agree they do, but in this case it is ridiculous. Schneider is big enough that he doesn’t need protecting. He needs help getting the puck out of the zone and that is what Jones excels at.

I hope this AHL stint has driven up Jones value to a fair level and they don’t give him away, because a lot of teams can use what he brings.

The only reason I won’t freak when they sell Jones is that they can’t take full advantage of his skills anyway because there is no room on the power play for him.

I agree. I dont think they believe schneider needs protection, he can more than hold his own. Hes easily top 5 toughest on team already.

Drury and especially GG just love big dmen. I like jones alot. He’ll be moved though imo and then we’ll probably go with a combo of robertson/harpur as 6th D next year until deadline when we get another rental

There's a chance Jones is a regular next year. All depends on what moves - Lindgren as example here - they make for cap purposes.

I dont see lindgren getting moved. Hes a solid compliment to fox whos value here is higher than it will be elsewhere. As a ufa hes probably no higher than his current cap hit of $3mm. Likely rangers talk to lindgren this offseason regarding extending him on something like 7 years 24.5mm. (3.5mm cap hit). And then rangers top 4 is set for the next decade basically with lindgren-fox and kandre-schneider. Pair that with a top 6 line set for another decade in laf-chytil-kakko and rangers are in very good shape both present and moving forward.

Goodrow is gonna go though and be replaced with cuylle. You ever mess around on capfriendly?

Anyway, I think this roster I made for next year is somewhat realistic.

^ that roster is under the projection cap only goes up $1,000,000. But with that roster having $1.9mm in cap space it allows you to accrue enough deadline space to aquire a mats zuccarello at the deadline to throw on the 1st line with mika and panarin. Contingent on wild being out of it of course

Just wanted to chime in that it so refreshing to not see the regular NYR/NJD suck nonsense. Seriously...thanks. Just really great, smart hockey talk. I’m sure it will ratchet up if they meet in the playoffs, but that is part of the fun right?, lol. Plus, I know NYI and PHI gets the short stick here. But, if either sneaks in and meets one of the other locals, I’m SURE it will more than make up for any slights here. In fact, could be downright painful, lol.

Anyway, really great job here everyone. Here’s to the ALL the locals making a run and some real playoff fun for all of us…

Wow with the Krav benching
Leschyshen is horrid
Agreed. Hes bad. Give me brodzinski> leschyshen. I dont think krav is elite however playing this bum over him is absurd

Just happy that after a tough start to the year halak has really become a very solid backup

Earlier in the year when Blais, Carpenter and few others were playing like crap but the Rangers won a few games in a row, Gallant was questioned about it and said he doesn’t like making lineup changes after a win.

Since then, all three times he has benched Kravstov have been after he played in a win.

Seeing that the Rangers have made Kravtsov "available."

Hope he gets a chance somewhere.

Chychrun was a healthy scratch tonight. Maybe the Rangers are really taking a swing for the fences.

Nothing was more worse than Scott Gomez to the Habs for Ryan McDonagh.
For real, what an abysmal trade. From what I remember, Chris Higgins was considered the focal point of the return for Gomez, but McDonagh was a pretty recent first round pick. I first found out about that trade from a coworker and I told him I didn't believe him because no GM would be that stupid.

Congrats on being the only other person here to spell his name right lol

Eh. He's incredibly talented, yes. But his play has deteriorated since his red hot start few years ago. He tends to compile points against bad teams, he hasn't shown ability to make players around him better, and he must've been hurt, but other than PIT G7 goal wasn't a factor in playoffs.

Hope I'm wrong. And regarding his skill, you're talking to someone who idolizes Alexi Kovalev growing up. I respect it a ton but he's capable of making much bigger impact.
Not bumping to dunk on you because its not just you, its a weird narrative that masses parrot. Panarin is a world class talent, the likes of which we havent had at forward since jagr

I'll keep criticizing him if it means he'll score 4 goals the next night.

Plus, Sammy Blais scored in his first game back in STL

Makes a lot of sense imo with where nyr are with krav. Wouldve liked to see us manage the asset better but shipping him to AZ for bjugstad or ritchie aint horrible. Have had my eye on bjugstad for a while. Guy i want to sign July 2023 if we can get him $1mm or under to center the 4th line next to cuylle and goat after we move goodrow

Knowing Gallant, if we got Bjugstad he is just as likely to bench Gauthier and move Leschyzyn to wing.

I think at a certain point Drury needs to step in and tell him just because hes friends with a players dad doesn't mean he needs to play the guy. Further JL is such an irrelevant player that since drury controls the roster just throw his *** on waivers. It's kinda why I lean towards wanting Ritchie this season. Ritchie is GG's type of guy. 6'2 235 tank who can drop the mits with anyone but also is like a pretty good hockey player. If we can land Nick Ritchie for Krav that'd be tremendous
