I caught one of the golf beat writers talking about the biggest issue facing LIV has really nothing to do with LIV or the PGA Tour. It's the fans. There are very few fans that religiously watch golf each and every weekend. Most tune in for the name events, majors. There's just golf burnout for some fans in the sense that there is only so much golf one wants to watch. I think many in this thread are like that - will tune in for the majors, may watch the bigger name events like Memorial, Players, Arnie Palmer and then pretty much ignore the others.
LIV knows it can't compete with the majors and can't compete with the now designated events, such as this weekend's Arnie Palmer. The fields are just too strong. So they schedule around those events to match up against the lower PGA events. But they might just be suffering from what he said is golf fan burnout - there's only so many weeks in a year that people want to watch golf.
