Let's have a little fun on a slow Wednesday. Rules of the game. Name 3 movies that you consider 4 or 5 star material, a must watch movie that you personally enjoy and recommend for all to see. Once a poster lists a movie it doesn't count for your 3 and any sequels of the movie are taken with the first mention of it. How many movies can we all agree on?

1. Saving Private Ryan

2. Pulp Fiction

3. Moneyball

Hmmmm. This is tough, and I have thought about it a lot. It is easier to give a top 3 in certain categories. But, since that wasn't asked I will give three very different movies that all get 5 stars from me.

1.) Dazed and Confused
2.) Gladiator
3.) Stand by Me

1) The Longest Day
2) The Dirty Dozen
3) Anchorman
HM) Saving Silverman - this is honestly one of the most underrated comedies of this or any generation.

Yeah, I'll admit that I chose the first two films largely because of my avatar but there's a *lot* of pre-1960s films I could recommend. Thank you, Bob Arnett.

1. Saving Private Ryan - the best WWII film I've ever seen, and one of the best films ever

2. Casino - no body plays a better gangster than Joe Pesci

3. Stand By Me - great growing up movie

Honorable Mention - Schindler's List is an amazing movie, but tough to watch too often. Goodfellas, see above re Joe Pesci. Braveheart/The Patriot - Mel is a British killing machine

(1) Ferris Bueller's Day Off (2) Inglourious Basterds (3) Rocky

**I would have included Shawshank, The Godfather

The original The Longest Yard gets an honorable mention

Edited to add, It would have been funny to put "(1) Faherenheit 9/11 (2) Capitalism: A Love Story and (3) Sicko" just to see if I could incite a riot which would end up in a locked thread.

My top 3:

Once a poster lists a movie it doesn't count for your 3 and any sequels of the movie are taken with the first mention of it. How many movies can we all agree on?

How can we tell if we all agree on a movie if we can't repeat one that someone else has already listed?

Anyway, my top 3, regardless of whether or not anyone else has listed them:

1. The Princess Bride
2. The Goonies
3. Tombstone

Clear and Present Danger (Drama), My Cousin Vinny (Comedy) and

The Silence of the Lambs (Crime/Thriller).

My actual Top 3 were taken, but these are 3 good ones. My Cousin Vinny, while a comedy, portrays courtroom procedure much more accurately than most serious movies do.

My top 3 would've

been 1) Forrest Gump 2) Shawshank Redemption 3) Bourne Trilogy... but those were all obviously taken.

Speaking of taken... my next 3 would be

1) Taken
2) Life (with Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence - hilarious comedy)
3) Ocean's Eleven (loved this one, 12 and 13 not so much)

The purpose of not repeating the same movies over and over is so you don't have to read the same ones over and over. Tombstone and Shawshank Redemption are wonderful movies. We know. Pick new ones please. It makes the game more difficult as you go.
