Where are you getting that information? I'm seeing nothing concrete about the situation, other than general active shooter, shelter in place type reports.Suspect in custody. Grad student.
WRAL live coverage.Where are you getting that information? I'm seeing nothing concrete about the situation, other than general active shooter, shelter in place type reports.
Suspect in custody. Grad student.
"Live" coverage is communicating a confirmation that the suspect is in custody. UNC grad student named Tailei Qi.WRAL says a person is in custody but no idea if it’s the suspect. They had originally ID’d him as the shooter but now just say he’s a “person”
Though schools in the area have been given the all clear so does seem like he’s the guy…though not confirmed
I've seen that. I'm curious to see how this shakes out."Live" coverage is communicating a confirmation that the suspect is in custody. UNC grad student named Tailei Qi.
The reporting on this stuff has been awful, at least the written reporting (haven't been watching live reporting).Shooting inside Caudill Laboratory. Faculty member shot and confirmed fatality.
Sure enough.... Real life isn't neat and clear. I've been involved firsthand in a number of incidents over the years. Reporters do their best. But the "fog of war" and acts of violence. Authorities have their priority and it's not the media. The reporting on this stuff has been awful, at least the written reporting (haven't been watching live reporting).
I saw your post, went online and it's not at all clear if there's a NEW shooting inside Caudill Lab, or if this is additional reporting on what happened earlier today. Is very ambiguous.
It's really not that hard for media outlets to be less ambiguous about this stuff.
I think media outlets need to alter headlines, at least, if not produce new articles w/different dates/times. Otherwise, web search engines like Google are screwed in trying to present timely updates and the public becomes confused.Sure enough.... Real life isn't neat and clear. Anyways, this appears to be the isolated situation: one shooting of a faculty member inside the lab by a grad student.
Huh? I don’t get it. Why is describing him as a mostly white asian clownish?Apparently he was described as mostly white Asian

It'll get better, I'm sure. Would be enormously frustrating as a parent of a UNC student today, though.
For the most part, I have no problem with LE being careful and very deliberate with what info they release. Although I think sometimes they prioritize catching and convicting someone over protecting innocents in the area - and I think that ain't right.
It's starting to look like this was not a mass shooting event so much as a specific gun violence incident with a specific target in mind. Still sucks, and it's not certain yet what the motive or intent was. Gotta wait to see what the investigation will reveal.
Calm down. You missed that he used proper pronouns in his LinkedIn Bio. Another gift from Wuhan University.Apparently he was described as mostly white Asian

Why? Sadly the student shot his adviser, who was also Chinese. Probably a dispute over research or something in the lab. Nothing to see here. What a conundrum for the fbi
This has to be fake

Leave it to Fox to blow up the race card.
For once they can find some implausibility
trying to figure that out, it may be a total goof or the authorities may have actually labelled that guy at the beginningDid Fox make the characterization or quote someone else?
He is a banana or a twinkie.Apparently he was described as mostly white Asian

You mean that you think it could be real is sadIm thinking its fake...but that it could be real is sad

and it was a "false flag" thing done on X (twitter) by a self-proclaimed investigative journalist who focuses on QAnon. story linkIt’s fake, guys. Lol

BTS AsianI’m failing to understand what the big problem is with “mostly white asian”. I mean, I’m looking at him and he is, in fact, mostly but not entirely white and Asian. If he were from India, there’s a decent chance he‘d be a mostly brown Asian.
If you need to describe him to people, say what to be on the lookout for, mostly white asian is a good description. Asian is not specific enough. And most Americans suck at distinguishing between different Asian nationalities, so saying Chinese is also less helpful than mostly white Asian.
I assumed "leftist" based on the story I linked.. poorly worded.. but his tweets say otherwise. I changed my post. It is weird. I do not get teh logic of some someone who thinks himself on teh political right to post an image like that. What was the point? It’s pretty sad how many people fell for it…on this board, on twitter, etc. I knew if was clearly fake the minute I saw as FOX lowers look nothing like that.
Such is another issue with social media..people believing everything they read.
It’s a Korean boy band that had so much work done to look white.BTS?

Disagree. How did a Chinese national get a gun? Reasonable question, no?
