Is it me or has shipping from Amazon become a dumpster fire? I've had multiple items that were were to be delivered this past Mon/Tues and they've been delayed. Supposedly, they're coming today. I've ordered items before Thanksgiving to be shipped to my office. It clearly said on the order form deliveries at my business should come between 8-5, but they tried delivering after hours and SHOCKER the door was locked. The items were put back on the truck and then lost in a black hole. I've stopped shipping presents to my office because of that - hopefully, I can catch the packages before the kids see them.

You used to be able to count on Amazon having accurate shipping estimates, but now they're just over-promising to get you to order. It's not just a Christmas rush thing either.

They say you can still order stuff today and have it shipped in time for Christmas, but I'm not gambling on that. Have y'all noticed a similar decline in shipping reliability?

Knock on wood, we haven’t had any issues (yet). They do seem to be delivering later and later at night though. I always turn off the porch light when I go to bed at 9:30-10:00ish and there have been several mornings recently where there were packages on it the next morning.

We always know when our Amazon delivery gets to our house when we hear the truck come down our street at 70mph and then hear the package bounce off the front door.

You don't have to put up with it if you don't want to.

I've never had them deliver much past 9 PM, but at our old house, they would be out delivering around 5 AM. They delivered packages while I was drinking my coffee before 6 AM many times.

I got a delivery last Sunday evening at 6:30. I commented to the girl that she was working late and she said her shift had just started at 5:45 so they must have extended their hours at least for the holidays if not permanently.

I have noticed a difference since they opened the new Amazon distribution center here in Starkville, they suck way more than UPS ever did when they had the monopoly pretty much. I have noticed a number of my deliveries getting delayed from Memphis to the Starkville distribution center and have had some stay in Starkville for a day or two also without moving. Its bad when they sit in a warehouse 10 minutes from my house for 2 days w/out moving.

They also put one of those bank of Amazon lockers inside the campus post office and its not uncommon to walk in there and see random packages on top of the lockers, on the ground around the lockers, on folding tables in front of the lockers, etc etc etc. Its like if the lockers are full the drivers just dump the box wherever and leave so they can say it was delivered. I've seen some WalMart.com deliveries laying around the Post Office lobby too.

I'm livid that my trinket from Bangladesh, which was warehoused in Seattle, took 3 days to get here instead of 2.
That's understandable but what if I told you somebody in Bangladesh lost a finger making that trinket? That get the dopamine hit back where you need it?

Ha. I get this on steroids. There's 200+ mailbox customers here. There's a couple of prolific Amazon shoppers. We have to constantly remind them to fix their settings. Amazon will make deliveries at 5:30 am. Leave packages leaning on the front door in our retail shopping center. I've also had them try to get in the back door while im here, insisting that 830 pm is still fair game for a business.

When we are open, like right this instant, the driver will walk past everyone that is in line and interrupt so they can take a Pic of the package sitting in front of me.

Between that Amazon crap and door dash services, im really starting to understand im old and grumpy.

very inconsistent, I think occasionally you get a subcontractor and that can be an issue. We ordered some air pods for our daughter, they actually cut the box open and placed it upside down as if we wouldn't notice

I order something recently, didn’t research the seller. I figured it was Amazon. The item got stuck in customs for two weeks. Finally arrived after three weeks.

I bought AirPods at Costco. Came with an extra year of warranty. I really like them.

They flushed UPS, and started their own... there will be a learning curve.
Not sure about some of their hires. It will all work out, eventually.
I've gotten everything I have ordered,.... can't exactly say the same for UPS.

Sent a Fed Ex overnight to an IRS agent last Tuesday. It’s still not there. Looks like I’ll be calling them again on Monday.

They just opened a Amazon station in Saltillo a few months ago, and they have 150+ delivery vans on site, plus well over another 100 Flex drivers, who are paid to deliver packages too, but they use personal vehicles. i got bored and signed up in October thinking there'd be some easy cash to be made.

The Flex drivers come in first, and this facility has 4 lanes of parking with spots for 20-25 cars per lane at a time. They start loading at 6:30am, rushing drivers out in less than 30 minutes, with another shift full starting 7:00 waiting in line. That lasts until 8:00 or so, then all the vans pull in and load up after they leave. That takes a couple of hours, then around noon, they have more Flex drivers scheduled the rest of the afternoon.

Depending on how busy it is, you can schedule 2-3 shifts a day lasting anywhere from 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5, or 4 hours per shift. Pay is usually between 20-25 per hour. I've done as few as 3 packages, and as many as 55 on a shift, and been to Alabama and Tennessee multiple times. You h,ave no idea how many stops you have, nor do you know which direction you'll be going.

And yes, during the holidays, they have lots of late shifts. Most are scheduled to end at 10:00pm, and drivers are encouraged to text or call customers after dark to let them know they are about to have a package delivered.

My favorite is when you order an item and the item arrives in its retail box with a shipping label on it. I'm sure my daughter will appreciate her record player coming with a UPS label on it.

It's as good as I expect. There is one thing they desperately need to add to their shipping label. My family lives all over the US. We use the Amazon list feature so people get things they want. We then open them on a Zoom call Christmas morning.

The issue is you get a few packages one day and you have no idea who it is from. Often some of the packages are also things you order for yourself and need to open. Those you can at least see what was delivered and compare the number, but it shouldn't be that hard. There is no indicator on the outside. If you add a note at time of purchase that does show on the I invoice, but they have to open the box and ruin the little bit of a surprise they do have. They need to at least put a from on the outside.

My wife and I got to know one of our Amazon drivers. Turns out the Amazon system reports that I "have a dog". My dog barks at the truck as it comes up the driveway while running the other way, and that's it. Sweetest dog I ever had. All the other drivers act as if she is going to rip their throat out. A few have refused to stop.

Yes, the drivers can mark a house having a dog so that future delivery drivers will be looking out for it. About half of the houses I've been to have had dogs, and only one has been aggressive toward me..

Bad mistake, make them think your dog will rip their throat out.
Best in the long run.

Had something supposed to be delivered today but note said they couldn't access my front door. I don't live in a gated community or building so no clue what that was about nothing blocking it

I've had no issues with Amazon other than one driver that threw the package in the driveway. UPS has been great but FedX and anything USPS are a crapshoot. Anything USPS that goes through the Memphis mail center is usually a couple of days late.

What if I told you the people in Bangladesh are happier today bc of the trinkets they make vs before they had the jobs to make the trinkets!

they have a choice right?!

I suppose I should consider myself lucky with my local UPS, FedEX, and USPS drivers/mail carriers, for I've rarely had any issues with them at my current address.

However, at the last house my mother-in-law backed out of the driveway, straight into the parked FedEx truck. You read that right, yes, the giant white box truck with bright blue and orange letters; backed straight into it.

Sadly, the doorbell camera only recorded the audio of the incident.

What if I told both of you Globalism is the worst export the US ever supported?
