Gary Bettman has finally thrown in the towel:

And Salt Lake City is getting a team that is basically a perennial loser but has a wealth of young talent and draft picks.

Wonder if they will go by Utah or SLC.

Coyotes have lost money since they made the move from Winnipeg. They also have moved 3 times since they’ve been in Arizona and have been playing in the 5000 seat Mullett center the last couple of seasons. This franchise is a mess.

Couldn’t disagree more. SLC is booming and is a great location for pro sports moving forward. Growing base of wealth and stability.
SLC has a team in the ECHL and they rank 8th in attendance. Teams like Savannah, Toledo, Fort Wayne, etc. average more fans. Let’s see if hockey at the NHL level will make it.

SLC is also a candidate for a MLB franchise. MLB will expand by two.
Yep. MLB will expand to 32 teams and IMO go to a 8 divisions with 4 teams like the NFL. I predicted that SLC and Nashville will get MLB teams, the Rays move to the NL and the Rockies move to the AL. Here's how I'd set up the 32 team MLB:

NL East: Phils, Pirates, Mets, Nats
NL South: Braves, Nashville, Rays, Marlins
NL North: Cubs, Cards, Reds, Brewers
NL West: Dodgers, Giants, Padres, DBacks

AL East: Yanks, Red Sox, O's, Jays
AL North: Tigers, Twins, Guardians, White Sox
AL South: Rangers, Astros, Royals, Rockies
AL West: SLC, Angels, A's, Mariners
