And are having major problems in getting on their new online banking? I can't log on. It keeps disabling me. I try calling, been busy all day.

Why would any bank do this right before Christmas? Why Why WWHYYYYYY?

A couple months ago they changed my username from my SSN to my email address without my knowing. I'm not sure how I figured it out, but I did. Try your email address as your username, using the same password you'd had before.

Their online banking is down since weekend. When the Obamacare folks are finished with their website, they are going to start on the Bancorp South website.

Tried to login yesterday and got a message that because of the new system I had to get a temporary password via email to login. Well in the email they sent there was no temporary password. Tried to call the info line which has been busy every time I tried. It is a complete cluster.

They came out with a

new app yesterday. You have to download the new program and contact their online banking services. I was on hold for about an hour yesterday morning. To be honest, I can't tell what exactly is the difference other than the ability to take pics of checks and have them deposited via the pic.

Over the last week BancorpSouth has really pissed me the 17 off. Last week I missed my direct deposit cut off because they changed web pages. Yesterday I was on hold for an 1.5 hours to get access to my personal and business accounts. Make sure to put their website in compatability mode or nothing will work.

Whoever implemented that system needs to be jobless. Flat terrible execution.

Definitely not the best time for a new system roll out. I guess they took a page from the healthcare.gov programmers. I was finally able to log on yesterday afternoon and wasn't terribly impressed by the results. It's amazing how BXS and TRMK tout their state of tge art apps and ATMs when banks like BodA and Chase have ATMs with 10x the capability.

I have an account with them that I had since college. I also have a USAA account. Last week I transferred money from USAA to BCS to cover an expense. I have some misc expenses that were set up to autodraft from my BCS account and I just never felt like going through the effort to change them. Well I processed transfer on Thur. On Monday I get hit with overdraft. I call BCS to find out what has happened and they tell me that it must be USAAs fault because they can't see any transfer attempts. Two hours later I have the transfer funds in my account. I call back to ask why it took them 2.5 business days to accept the transfer and if they were going to remove the NSF. They tell me I must have used the wrong routing # to which I reply that the account is programmed into my USAA account and I have been transferring money for years. Eventually they removed the NSF, but they made every attempt to place blame on me the customer. Not the usual service I am accustomed to from BCS. Needless to say all autodrafts were changed that day and now I am only using it to purchase Christmas gifts, etc. that I do not want the wife to see in normal account. It will carry a normal balance of about $20 just to keep it open.

I'm

like you. I started an account with them while at State. That's really the only reason I still have it. However, I've never really been overly impressed with their services.

My advice. Just drop the BancorpSouth account and do all your banking with USAA. I've been doing that for over 10 years. You won't find a better deal anywhere.

At lest you got a email. I didn't get anything. I will hang in there. I have had this account since 1993 when it was the Bank of Mississippi. I have seen a lot of changes and I have a good relationship with my branch and they help me when I need it. I think the local help I get at my branch goes a long way with me.

May anyone join? I thought there was some type of rule about joining and being a member of the armed forces?

And for my banking needs - BankPlus has been great.

You have to either be a former military officer or a former dependent of one. But if you qualify, it's the best deal out there.

I have kept my BCS account a) because I always thought they were MSU supporters and b) because it was easier just to kick money over to the account and purchase gifts. That way my wife did not know all surprise for Christmas, Anniversary, etc. when reading the bank statement.

USAA does have some requirements for opening a account (military service or parent / spouse has served)

have to have served in the military or have had a parent that did.

My wife has a couple of step brothers that are in the military and she has used them in the past and they have given us insurance quotes, so unless things have changed in the last couple of years, I don't think the rules are that stringent.

I used to have Bancorp and changed to First Security. If I have any trouble it's a quick phone all to Batesville and resolved in five minutes.

I bank with both B+ and BCS. I got thru the BCS changeover with little trouble, just some on-line setup - annoying, but no big deal.

As far as B+ goes, most times they are good. But when you least expect it they will turn back into the Bank of Belzonuh, and aggravate the hell out of you.

Im not

sure if siblings were at one point, but i'm pretty certain that only those in the military (or once served) or children of those in the military (or once served) are eligible. Are you sure that your wife's parent(s) weren't? Again, unless it changed, this is the case.

Membership eligibility per USAA website:
Active, retired and honorably separated officers and enlisted personnel of the U.S. military.
Officer candidates in commissioning programs (Academy, ROTC, OCS/OTS).
Adult children whose eligible parents have or had a USAA auto or property insurance product.[SUP]1[/SUP]
Widows and widowers of USAA members who have or had a USAA auto or property insurance policy.

Do the reserves count? I'm eligible I think because I live in Bexar county, and anyone in San Antonio is eligible since their headquarters are here. I still bank with BOA anyway. That said, I pay everything with my United card, to get the miles.

Same here. No problem with the changeover.

As far as what's different, they changed Financeworks to Budgetwi$e. It seems to be more or less the same. Budgetwi$e seems to allow you to connect more accounts, but it doesn't pull in the transactions from your credit card accounts, which pretty much defeats the whole point. I don't rely on it that much, but if I did I'd be pissed that they broke the system for Christmas, when I'm guessing budgeting is particularly important for a lot of people.

My advice: Switch to a small community bank. Most all of them have online banking now, and if you ever have a problem, you can pick up the phone and call someone (or visit the branch) and it's fixed. Just because they're small, doesn't mean they don't have all the same services as the big banks. They do. Plus you're treated like a customer, not a number.

Signed,
A small community banker

Agreed. During the last year I've opened a couple of business accounts with Sycamore and have nothing but good things to say about them. I've been with BancorpSouth since the mid 80's, back when they were Bank of Mississippi. I own a small business and they won't discuss credit lines, loans, or equipment financing. At first they said I wasn't in business long enough. Now they say I'm too small. I talked to Sycamore and was set up with what I needed immediately. That's with no prior history of business with them.

I'd like to move everything to them, but I've gone paperless with all my banking and bills. It may not be as bad as I'm imagining but I get a headache thinking about trying get all of my ach accounts, and online bill pays moved without missing something.

Neither of her parents served.....based on patdog's post you are right, but i know that she had renter's/auto insurance through them before we got married, and then after we got married I called for a quote and told them our situation and they said that it wasn't a problem. So either their requirements have changed or they don't enforce them that strictly.
