Last time Army joined a conference (CUSA) it was a disaster. AD forced membership and a pro set offense. Injuries mounted and Army lost the "option surprise." 15 years of losing followed. Alas Army is much bigger now and the option has been weakened by regs.

They're joining for the 2024 season?! Haven’t schedules already been finalized? Hasn't TV already been confirmed? Oh wait .. it's the AAC.

The answers to your questions are yes, yes, and yes. The linked article is from October 2023. Army plays eight conference games, plus Navy (which is officially OOC) and Air Force, plus Notre Dame (which I don't expect to continue), plus an FCS (Lehigh).
