I pass the one on the AL coast all the time and have stopped just one time. I don’t get it. Why fight the traffic? It must be for the kiddies on vacation.

My kids think it’s fun. If you go early in the morning there’s no one in there.

Never been. I’m sure I’ll eventually go to the one in Arlington, TN.

I was not there. I’ve been to the Bucees in bama tho. I was very impressed with just how enormous it was

I was the guy in the beaver costume.

  • Clean bathrooms (like 50+)
  • Good food/snacks (all the drink/ice/coffee machines work 24x7)
  • Plenty of gas pumps (and electric chargers as well)
  • No 18 wheelers
  • Plenty of check out cashiers
  • Kids love it
  • Lots of space to walk around, not cramped or congested
  • Employees are paid decent wages and are generally happy
  • Customers that drop in are generally happy

Never understood the hype.
I’ve stopped in 2. The one coming back from OB is way too busy for me.
I got a sandwich and some gas at another one. The sandwich was fine but I’m not slapping a beaver sticker on the truck over a decent sandwich.

At the Beach Express location I was impressed that they have employees tasked with the responsibility of wiping down the 17ing gas pumps. They literally had a guy armed with a spray bottle and rag cleaning screens and buttons and nozzle handles. And the ball and chain raved about the cleanliness of the 17ing bathrooms.

It's obvious that SO many people in this thread have never had Beaver Nuggets. So sad....! **

Buc-ee's is known for it's "mega" gas stations across TX and now along the Gulf Coast, but here in SE Houston (and West to Lake Jackson where they started), there are a bunch of "standard" size stores like your local Exxon or Shell. Even these standard stores maintain the same cleanliness & friendliness that you see at the mega stores. They're definitely my go-to for coffee & gas in the mornings.

I went later in the afternoon to check out the MS version, and to scratch a couple of Buc-ee's itches. It was just short of Saturday beach traffic crowded. Everything seemed relatively smooth running, especially considering it was opening day.

Those are Texans on their way to Gulf Shores.
I was dumb enough to go once on a Summer Saturday. I think every out of state car that goes through the Mobile tunnels feels obliged to make the Beach Express Buc-ee's their last stop before seeing sand.

Dang. 90% of the people in that picture are obese - not just overweight, but legitimately obese.
I was just about to say the same. Obese and wheelchairs. But i do love a Buccees. Only gas station i can buy ammo, a cutting board, wool socks, water shoes, Patagonia jacket, and a brisket sandwich. No asterisks

That has to be the worst ingress/egress design in history. Disfunction junction is embarrassed

I only do them at odd hours. Only time I hit the Beach Express location was on a Monday at about 10:00 a.m., no crowds to speak of w/ easy in and out and checkout. I have seen it on a Saturday during beach season, you couldn't drag my dead lifeless body in there then, I'd come back to life and haunt your azz if you tried.
The only other one I tried was just East of Dallas, don't remember the suburb name. I hit it about 5:30 a.m. and was almost alone, hardly anybody else there. Another good experience, I leisurely walked around the whole place and stocked up on way too much stuff though.

The one in Leeds is off the chain. Large crowds but ez in ez out. Go for the cinnamon roll, pulled pork sandwich and beaver nuggets. Get your picture taken with the beaver as you stuff your face.

2 or 3 years ago we stopped at the Beach Express one on the way to Destin because my daughter was yelling for a bathroom in the backseat and all I'd really heard of Buc-ees is that they have the cleanest bathrooms around. Took us a good 20 minutes to get from the off-ramp into a parking spot. Ladies bathroom line was almost to the outer door of the place. Grabbed an Icee, brisket sandwish, some praline pecans, and got back in the car.

45 minutes later we made it out of the Buc-ees parking lot. I'd finished my sandwich, and Icee, and had to pee again. Wife and I agreed we'll never visit another one, clean bathrooms be damned. All told it was easily a 1.5 hr derailment.

Had someone tell me yesterday - "as soon as you park, you're already out at least 30-mins and $50..."

The one on the Alabama coast is an absolute pain in the *** to get in and out of. Very poorly designed. And I know they are t all like that because the one in Auburn is super easy to get in and out of

I skip the one in Baldwin County on the way to the beach because of the traffic and crowd congestion, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't plan my bathroom breaks around them while driving through Texas. Best bathroom break of any rest-stop and good road trip food.

I drive over to western SC several times a year for work and Leads, AL is just about half way. I always stop for fuel and a bathroom break. You can't beat the clean restrooms and I can get some comfort food as I will be living out of a hotel for the next week or two.

My normal shopping list consist of, a bag of regular beaver nuggets, a bag of the cheddar nuggets (mix them together and you have an awesome sweet and savory snack), pound of the Jalapeno Honey jerky, several beaver tails and a sausage on a stick for lunch (be sure to get a cup of BBQ sauce).

If you are there late morning you can buy a dozen kolaches for about $10. They are sure better than the hotel breakfast.

I'm putting the over/under at 4. 100% the guy on the rollator and guy with the selfie stick post here. @Barkman Turner Overdrive was probably in the crowd too.
