I don't follow NASCAR , but his name is easily reconized by me as one of stock car racing greats.

As a kid, he was NASCAR to me. His brawl with Bobby Allison was responsible for growing the brand tremendously...

One of a handful of drivers and personalities that took a back woods, Southern sport into a national obsession. Tough as nails and that son of ***** could win.
I certainly miss the Nascar of the 70s through the 90s. Today's "Nascar" is total crap.

I used to follow NASCAR but when Gordon, Dale jr, and Stewart all retired close together I lost interest. It is as much a personality based sport as anything and losing those 3 really hurt.
Then you get into how badly the people who run the sport have screwed it up.
