Traveling for work I always like to know everybody’s can’t miss hotels , as a Marriott guy most will be that, but a few be IHG:

Detroit - Westin at the airport, downtown is Marriott at renaissance center

Philly - Old city Marriott on dock street

NYC - Intercontential, Westin grand central, W Times Square, Marriott marquis

Central Jersey - Bridgewater Marriott

Boston - Westin Harborside, W, Hotel Indigo north end

Portland, ME - press hotel

Columbus, OH- LeVeque hotel

Anyone have favorites when you travel?

New Orleans Windsor court
Kona Hawaii. Four Seasons
San Juan Puerto Rico. El San Juan
San Juan Puerto Rico. Ritz Carlton.

Last 2 are pretty much next door to each other and spent many a weekend there in my 20’s early 30’s. Lobby at the El San Juan outside of the casino was a scene. Lots of cigars and great rum was consumed.

Renaissance in Providence RI

Otherwise, my general work travel strategy is to search for the newest or most recently refurbished Marriott hotel in the city I'm going to. I'd rather have a brand new Courtyard than a tired old Marriott, Westin, or Sheraton.

Favorite work travel hotel was always the Magnificent Mile Marriott in Chicago. The ad agency I used for 10-12 years was in Chicago, so we traveled there quite a bit for various reasons.

For NYC, try the Renaissance on 35th. Better than the ones you listed.

I’ll add a few international hotels:

Munich: Bayerischer Hof
Cannes: Carlton (if your company really values you)
