im not on tik tok but this girl speaks at the WEF and other phony climate change forums with supposed intelligent scientists. Its propaganda indoctrination and they find its easy to spread to the young popuation. If you do not think its happening I will be happy to give you others like a 25 year old climate advisor to the UN who only has a bachelors degree from Hunter College and its also a racist who wants to end capitalism but is a spokesperson for saving the globe from that big bad climate

Something can be true even if idiots say it's true. Gravity is real, but that's not an argument for throwing yourself off a high building to prove it. Similarly, climate change is real, even though that's not an argument for dictatorship or for the other stupid things people like this girl want.

They're "spokespersons" only if you say they are. There are loads of people with actual credentials who will tell you that climate change is real. No one in the real world listens to people like her.

Think of it this way: suppose you were thinking of getting married. You wouldn't be dissuaded just because some fool tells you that, because marriage is good, you should marry ten women at once. By the same token, you shouldn't disregard the threats posed by climate change just because of an idiot ideologue like her.

So what? What are they "advising" on, and does anyone listen to them? What does it mean "in touch with Biden" and why do you think he's listening to them?

More fundamentally, the fact that these idiots say that global warming is a problem doesn't mean it's not a problem. The fact that they think we should do stupid things to deal with global warming doesn't mean there aren't smart things we should do to deal with global warming. Don't let extremists determine your views.

Climate change is real.
Climate change is being weaponized.

Both things can be true.

You don't sacrifice the long term survivability of Earth because the woke mafia has hijacked climate science. There are sensible ways to curb our carbon emissions and transition to a sustainable energy future. Calling climate change a hoax, spreading lies about EVs, or saying CO2 is "plant food" isn't productive. Those arguments are just as harmful as the lunatics wanting everyone to ride bicycles and eat insects.

Fossil fuels are a finite resource. I hope you agree with that statement. Either we transition to a sustainable energy future or civilization collapses. Do you agree?

You mean we shouldn't worry about the future of the earth because there are imbeciles promoting nonsensical solutions? Surely you don't mean that.

If the issue has been hijacked, then let's un-hijack it -- and the way we do that is to pursue sensible solutions. Denying that there is a problem only *helps* these idiots gain influence by making it sound like theirs are the only solutions.

Of course those aren't sensible solutions -- what do you take me for?. I've said in three posts that these people are idiots. We have two jobs: (a) to deal with global warming: and (b) to do it without adopting extremist approaches that can't possibly work.

"Woke" is not taking over our institutions. Decisions aren't being made because of 25-year old "influencers." The White House is just trying to attract young voters by trying to make them believe they're important. You and I know better.

Have you noticed that Harvard's applications are *down?* The opponents of dei are doing well right now.

But that's not the point. The point is that we shouldn't be deterred from effective action because of idiots. If you were flying an airplane in trouble, you wouldn't listen to the moron who told you the solution is to throw passengers overboard in mid-air to lighten the load -- but you would do what makes sense to land your airplane safely

Rumors of Ford's EV death have been greatly exaggerated:

    • March 2024 sales represent a 12.8% increase from February 2024

Even Fox didn't use "neanderthal." And what he said about landlines is not quite what you say he said . "Sometimes when these debates happen, I feel like it's the early 2000s, and I'm talking to some people who think that we can just have landline phones forever." It's a stupid ( and badly-phrased) statement, IMHO, but not quite as stupid as you make it out to be.

I’d argue that Pete’s statement is even more stupid than Bac makes it out to be, in no small part due to it being a really bad analogy. But also because it’s so counterproductively inflammatory even without Bac’s injection of the word “Neanderthal”.

If Pete is seeking to persuade people to buy EVs, then, being a politician, he really ought to know better.

OTOH, perhaps he’s seeking to curry favor with likely Biden voters. In which case, it’s even more stupid because plenty of voters who don’t want to vote for Trump also don’t want to be forced into an EV. Pete’s statement is much more likely to cost Biden votes and drive more voters to vote for Trump.

It was a logically and politically awful statement.

I feel like a truth squad here . . . We're talking about a cancellation of a purchase of 3 million barrels with the SPR now at 363 million barrels. And the cancellation was made because the price of gasoline is up and so the cost to taxpayers would have been greater than anticipated. That's all in the story you linked.

BTW, the SPR's level is less than 2% below last year this time and has been going up since last summer.

And there are no mandates to force people to buy EVs. No one is going to fine anyone or throw them in jail for not buying an EV or for buying a conventional vehicle instead.

You're better than this. No one would read your bacatology if you used the same "research" methods this as here.

You make a good point. One of the things wrong with my fellow liberals (I guess I'm one, at least sort of) is that they are frequently condescending, and this is an example. And, yes, it's counterproductive. OTOh, no one is talking about forcing anyone into an EV.

There was absolutely no reason to release the SPR in the first place. He released cheap oil, pushed the price down. Now they can't refill it because it will cost too much and push up the price of oil which is already rallying.

It was tapped into because gasoline prices were through the roof; don't you remember that gasoline prices were over $4 per gallon and threatening to go higher? That's the whole point of the reserve -- to be used when there's a shortage. And the first sign of a shortage is when gasoline prices are up. This same reply goes for @RUDead
