I'm throwing this in the Off Topic category since I can't recall a thread dedicated to it. Anyone on the site going? Yay or Nay on travelling to Jacksonville.

Plane flghts for me and the wife were over $400 apiece... Not making the trip solely because of that.

Me and my family are going there again. Tickets to fly were $400 or so a piece so we will drive there again. The drive is long but not difficult. Hopefully we win by 38 or so like we did vs Michigan. If we have any fans not going, I suggest you camp out in some of our top recruits yards with a camcorder. The Rebs did their best recruiting 2 years ago while we were in Jacksonville.

From Houston to Jacksonville, we've made that trip twice in the past 2 years (Gator Bowl in 2010 and Amelia Island in 2011) and we paid under $250 for each ticket.

I started this thread but unfortunately I am a Nay. In-Law rotation has me in NW Kansas this year. Had a great time in 2010 and would love to be there but this family thing gets in the way.

Leaving Sun Dec 30 and coming home right after the game. The drive is about 7-7.5 hrs so we'll be home about 11:00 pm or so. Staying at the Wyndham and have 4 seats in the stadium club level

Sorry but this game has as much interest as playing Mid Tenn State. I'll stay at home where three other games are on at the same time and possible flip over to catch the score. All I will spend is $20 for a case of beverages.

Atlanta is the best route from B'ham and

N. Miss unless you like two lane roads and red lights then go through Montgomery...From North Miss, I always take 78 to Birmingham, I20 to 85 just outside Atlanta to 75 all the way to I10. I can make that drive in 9 1/2 hours easy. That's with stopping to eat and gas etc...This way you are on the interstate the entire way and 70-80 mph. This is the same route I take to Gainesville, no matter what others say, this is the best route. I've been through Dothan route, Columbus, Ga route etc...none of these are faster or easier than Atlanta...

My opinion - I've been all three routes (Atlanta, Columbus, Montgomery) there's not 15 minutes difference unless you run into some kind if accident or something. Just depends on what scenery you prefer or towns you'd like to go through.

I'm driving down from tupelo on Sunday, back to Columbus ga after the game, and home on Wednesday.

Leaving from Montrose CO on Sat, going to Ocala on Sunday to visit friends, St Simon's on Monday because we love St. Simons, game on Monday and fly back on Tue. Got a pretty good deal with Hotwire for flights, 4 nights Springhill Suites airport, standard rental car for 1800, and tickets $125 each from MSU. Expensive, but NYD bowl in FL for CODAWG is worth it. After one night this week at minus nine and one night at minus four I am looking forward to FL, even if its just in the 60s.

I'm not going to be able to go because I have to be at work the morning following the game. Flying is incredibly too expensive (cheapest flights I could find were $300 a piece, one way... If I left earlier, I'd have an additional night in a hotel and an additional day with a rental car, so the cost would still be high). Seeing that it is a 12 hour drive to Jacksonville, I would really be pushing it to get back in time to be at work the next day if I drive (and, no, I can't miss... I'm out of vacation days and if I'm even late, I'd miss several days of holiday pay). Jacksonville is a no-go this year.

Either Montgomery/Dothan or Atlanta are acceptable, but be sure and check construction on I-20 east of B'ham ... it was a mess last time I went that way. A lot less traffic the other way though.

Im going to that saints game as well. The damn tickets on stub hub and the ticket exchange have gotten more expensive the closer it gets to game day. I should have bout them 2 weeks ago

Not sure when you last traveled via Montgomery but it is 4-lane to I-10.

Do you have details on the bus trip?

I haven't seen one this year and if leaving from the Jackson area would be interested, if they still have space.

Nay. I would seriously consider it if we didn't have two newborns. That kinda changes your perspective a little.

I read this and thought....Billy Madison debate response.

State has been in a NYD bowl how many times? And someone bitches about the opponent. I can understand not going because of financial reasons but not going because of opponent and wanting to watch other games? C'mon man!
