At 10:48 PM today gunshots were reported near Building 32 (Stata) which is currently surrounded by responding agencies. The area is cordoned off. Please stay clear of area until further notice. Unknown if injuries have occurred.. Although the situation is considered active and extremely dangerous, an investigation is underway. Updates will be provided at this site when more information becomes available.

It is getting nasty. Nut jobs are coming out of the wood-work.

The suspect shot a police officer, who is being transported to hospital, according to the local police scanner.

Other scanner information claims the assumed shooter took a fallen officer's gun. He is thought to have been fleeing from a nearby robbery, and no information has so far pointed to his affiliation, or not, with the school.

Both logics are retarded. Neither can be proven true just like tax cuts vs higher tax brackets can't be proven either way. It's time to address the mental health aspect of Americans though. That's the only thing connecting every single one of these acts.

I can understand how it's retarded to think that declaring an area to be a gun-free zone is going to deter somebody willing to commit murder, but how is it retarded to think people will be better off if law abiding citizens are not prohibited from having a weapon to defend themselves. Even if you can come up with some explanation where you think that logic is fault, I'm not sure how you could find that logic retarded.

ETA: And I'm not sure how much the mental health focus will help. There are a lot of weird 17ers out there and I'm guessing there are a ton of them that if they went out on a shooting rampage tomorrow, there would be a lot of people that knew them that could point to things they had done or said that, with hindsight, seemed like a clear indication that they were a threat. But the problem is there are a lot of weird people that say and do things like that all their life, without ever harming anybody. You'd end up institutionalizing a lot of teenage boys and young men that never would have been a problem to stop very rare occurrences.

I had a feeling this was the work of Islamic extremists, all along. When you examine the type of event and setting where the bombings took place, the motivation behind it comes to mind. There was no specific target group, just an agenda to cause mass casuality and terror on American soil. This campus shooting is, no doubt, related to the bombing. The media is being way too credulous right now. It's sickening.

Boston scanner just said one suspect is same guy as white hat in FBI pics......it now sounds we may have both in custody, alive.

there is a guy on skype with MSNBC...he lives on the street wher this is going down, witnessed the gunfight, etc.

NBC reporting that FBI was interested in finding someone who lived in area of Boston where this is happening. THey received tips after the photos were released. Also, said that NBC has been told two names of individuals that the FBI was interested in, and that one of the persons in custody tonight is one of the names that NBC has. THey are not releasing names until they get official confirmation...

Just woke up after a couple hours ... apparently Suspect #1 is dead. Suspect #1 (white hat) still hasn't been caught. And they're the ones at the MIT shooting. Not sure where Mutt got the names ... just saw a police update and they said they're not releasing names just yet.

May not be saying anything new because I haven't read all the other posts yet.

One has to wonder if they're MIT students.

If you read the article, one of them is the missing student from Brown ... been missing a month or so.

I really think we need to be a lot more restrictive on student visas.

NBC has just reported that suspect #2 is not the Brown University student who is missing. According to news reports, he was a native of Bryn Mawr, PA.

From what I had read about him, it was hard to believe he(Sunil Tripathi) was the person being described during tonight's reporting - foreigner, only in the country for about a year, military experience or background, etc.

Yeah...I probably should try to sleep for a while, but I'm not sure I can stop watching. Mika Brzezinski is driving me crazy now, so I have to at least change to some other coverage. I do like NBC's Pete Williams though, so I may have to just grit my teeth and tolerate her.

Yeah, it's rather riveting isn't it? Many folks in Boston can't even go to work ... the T and bus routes are shut down.

Just FYI...both of these names are incorrect. They are brothers, age 26 and 19, reportedly from a Russian area near Chechnya, nothing more specific. I didn't catch the names, can't remember them, sorry. Older brother is dead, younger one is still on the run.

And the guy in the picture is not one of them.

Police have somebody trapped in a house in Watertown, MA right now. It's on the corner of Willow Park and some other street. There's a huge presence of police assault vehicles and personnel. It's live on TV. Not sure if it's "white cap" or not.

Agree, when domestic terrorists hit something its almost always targeted at someone or something specific like the Oklahoma City Government building was. Totally random killings is much more of an Islamic tactic.

I just turned on TV and I have no idea what is going on now.

He was live and they showed his vid lastnight at about 1:30am on the news. He captured around 25 gunshots and cops screaming etc...

Also I witnessed and recoreded the cops taking into custody 2 males lastnight. They made them strip naked. The first guy they had face down kind looked like #2. I have looked at this several times. Then an hour later another guy was caught amd put into car.

So I have no idea who the 2 guys were they caught in Watertown lastnight.

SideNote: Get ready fellas...we just had immigrants with guns. Gun grabbers coming down hard soon.
