California has stepped up prescribed burns. The propagandists and conspiracy nutters may say otherwise, but they are wrong.

I try to take a neutral look at things. One thing that’s become true is the so called conspiracy nutters have been more right the past few years then the “trust the science” nutters. Seems like everything now gets labeled a conspiracy when it dosent fit an agenda. That’s unfortunate

The criticism of your eariler post has nothing to do with whether it was bad for you or not. It wasn't bad for me either, so you're not alone. The issue is your complete inability to have even the slightest bit of concern or empathy for fellow humans who might actually suffer under conditions dangerous to them. That's what makes you such a friggin' tool.
Go easy on the "friggin tool", Tuesday is going to be a really bad day for the little fella.

haha right

Mt Helens put more co2 and stuff in the sky that everything man has done to date and that doesn't even get into continued volcanic activity from under the oceans that emits more than all the cars on the planet.

it's all a money grab like reparations is now
Why do people post BS like this ?

Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a greenhouse gas and is the primary gas blamed for climate change. While sulfur dioxide released in contemporary volcanic eruptions has occasionally caused detectable global cooling of the lower atmosphere, the carbon dioxide released in contemporary volcanic eruptions has never caused detectable global warming of the atmosphere. In 2010, human activities were responsible for a projected 35 billion metric tons (gigatons) of CO2 emissions. All studies to date of global volcanic carbon dioxide emissions indicate that present-day subaerial and submarine volcanoes release less than a percent of the carbon dioxide released currently by human activities. While it has been proposed that intense volcanic release of carbon dioxide in the deep geologic past did cause global warming, and possibly some mass extinctions, this is a topic of scientific debate at present.

Published scientific estimates of the global CO2 emission rate for all degassing subaerial (on land) and submarine volcanoes lie in a range from 0.13 gigaton to 0.44 gigaton per year. The 35-gigaton projected anthropogenic CO2 emission for 2010 is about 80 to 270 times larger than the respective maximum and minimum annual global volcanic CO2 emission estimates.

There is no question that very large volcanic eruptions can inject significant amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. The 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens vented approximately 10 million tons of CO2 into the atmosphere in only 9 hours. However, it currently takes humanity only 2.5 hours to put out the same amount. While large explosive eruptions like this are rare and only occur globally every 10 years or so, humanity's emissions are ceaseless and increasing every year.

Do you think Canadien budget cuts to forest management and environmentalist opposing controlled burns/management and the forestry industry had anything to do with it? Hell California and Colorado continue to ***** about forest fires but NJ spends much more than them on forest management measures. It’s a lot cheaper to blame it on a different boogey man.
If only they had raked the forest like Dear Leader had suggested

Apparently lots of potential problems coming when the permafrost melts away.

Why do some of the brightest posters on these boards consistently invest so much time in arguing and name-calling with some of the dimmest?
I always thought it was because they (the bright folks) are way nicer than me. 'Cause I rarely argue or call the dim folks names. I just taunt and mock them, which sometimes, with the dimmest, feels a little mean.

I do this because (a) it's way more fun than watching Netflix or whatever and (b) it's what Master Bugs taught me to do in my foundational years.

The obvious downside to my approach is that it reveals just how childish I am. Even my own kids make fun of me for this. "Dad, you spent the day making fun of people on the internet again, didn't you", they ask me, shaking their heads in disgust. 🤣

yawn im voting for Christie in the primary
I'd chop two limbs off before voting for that blowhard.

I would have rather had Bernie Sanders than what we have now. At least he stands for what he believes in and can make cogent arguments for his positions, regardless of which ones I might agree with.

Was hopeful for Bloomberg, Gabbard or John Delaney in 2020, but the machine railroaded all of the good candidates out.

Early takes are Tim Scott or Tulsi Gabbard. Open to further research on Robert Kennedy Jr., but a lot of red flags there. Maybe Manchin if he runs. Still too early. Hope the field improves.

OK now do water vapor which is a much much greater greenhouse gas in volume and effectiveness.

Are ya'll planning to put plastic wrap over the oceans, because if not, then destroying our way of life over a drop in the greenhouse gas bucket is silly.

Thanks she is definitely not any of those things. I will say school boards, administrators and parents certainly don’t make it easy for people who do care.
I was a student teacher for a semester. In some schools the curriculum guide and interference in the classroom was very small. In other places, it was absurd micromanagement. That was 30 years ago. I can't imagine how bad it is now with culture wars and PC and teachers being run down and accused of pedophilia conspiracies. You could never pay me enough to do it.

I wouldn't call some on here dim as much as I would call them nasty, bigoted people. As such, mocking them or running them down is maybe not so harsh. I suspect some of them are tyrants and SOBs to the people around them and aren't used to getting pushback.

Like police officers, who seem to get a lot of flack, on the whole, the very large majority of teachers are like your daughter--dedicated to their mission of educating students and hard-working. For a variety of reasons mostly due to the currently hyperpoliticized environment that seems to infect almost every aspect of our lives, teachers, like police officers, get unfairly painted with a broad brush. That is very unfortunate.

Many put me on ignore after realizing how much fun I'm having at their expense while they're unable to dent my equanimity. They dish it out but can't take it, tough alpha-men that they are. 🙂

I should add that I'm apparently shallow as well as childish. If I weren't shallow, then surely I'd be deeply offended by all the "insults" they tried to lob at me. 🤣

Meh, who cares about insults from overaged Keyboard Commandos anyway? That's just common sense. Some of the insults they lob at me are so childish, like what a 15 year would say and what they probably WERE saying when they were 15, that I just shake my head and laugh at how they have no idea how ridiculous they look.

When was the last time Randi Weingarten taught a class?

Why are you asking me? I couldn't care less about her. She's useless and a huge part of that problem I spoke to. Fair or not, she is perceived to speak for the teachers, no?

Manchin? He will put a coal boiler in the White House Possibly the worst choice. I would love Bloomberg but that ship never even sailed last time. RFK Jr. LOL Tim Scott will never get through the Primaries.

Asa is somewhat appealing

Larry Hogan would have been a good choice.

My post from earlier, above, features a video analysis which makes a damn good case for lightning. It's very well done.
I'll have to go back and look for it. I skipped over it...your posts can get very dense, like, going over the finer chemical processes occurring downwind of a woodland fire in dry atmospheric conditions. I wasn't prepared for one of those 😆

The insults I used to have lobbed at me, and others, on the CE board, were hilariously lame and uncreative. If I was gonna be offended, I'd be offended that they couldn't put more effort into coming up with better insults.

To be honest, while I grew very bored with the ridiculousness and repetitiveness of the conversation there, I do miss the regular dose of laughably weak insults. It's like comfort food to me. No worries, though, I thankfully get plenty of insults IRL from my best friends, not to mention a few on the FB and MBB forums here. 🙂

Yeah, I said RKF Jr has a LOT of red flags. Just looking for more of "centrist."

You got something against coal? Have you heard of clean coal? 😏
