Oh we're not done talking about this storm it'll be more than eight pages
Self-fulfilling prophecy!Oh we're not done talking about this storm it'll be more than eight pages
Probably most pages per inch, lol, but only because of how potent it looked for a bit and then watching the model trainwreck over 12-24 hours to go from boom to yawn. Then the usual bickering, but the actual snow that fell from the upper level low was forecast pretty well.Is this a new record? 8+ pages for half an inch. It feels like it's gotta be.![]()
I've barely missed any disc golf due to the weather. I actually enjoy playing in the snow, as long as it's not too deep (easy to lose discs), which hasn't been an issue this winter and I'll play with temps in the 20s with light winds and in the 30s with some wind. 20s and windy is a bit more than I want to play in, but we don't get too much of that.I've had a grand total of 6 bike rides for a combined 138 miles since January 1st. By April that will be less than my weekly amount.
Damn right I riding tomorrow and Saturday my off days!! It's time!
Shouldn't get any black ice with temps way below 32F - usually get that when temps go above 32F leading to some melting which refreezes when temps go back below 32F. Nothing should melt tonight.Yup - got black ice written all over it. Could’ve been avoided.
Nah, this one's about done, at least for me. Time to look ahead to the next threat in 8-9 days. Maybe I'll start a thread on that, lol.Oh we're not done talking about this storm it'll be more than eight pages
It has been cold and snowy from the perspective of having a ton of small snow events (13 events with measurable snow), but the odd thing is we're still behind the expected amount of snow for a typical winter despite Dec, Jan and Feb all being a decent amount colder than normal. Will have to ask one of the weather guys how often that has happened.Hoping this is winter's last grasp
It's been misery and today is brutal as well
The only redeeming aspect is I was able to milk another Florida trip out of the whole thing
My money is on you, #'s.Nah, this one's about done, at least for me. Time to look ahead to the next threat in 8-9 days. Maybe I'll start a thread on that, lol.
What is best disc golf course in North Jersey?I've barely missed any disc golf due to the weather. Yeah, some really good courses in New England from what I hear, but have only played a couple, and in NY in Westchester/Rockland Counties, like Warwick/Oasis, Mt. Kisco, FDR and more. I run into lots of NYC players at the relatively nearby courses in NJ, like Greystone (Morris Plains - beautiful, challenging course on a mountainside), Oak Ridge (nice open course in Clark), Thompson Park in Jamesburg (nice mix of holes, scenic), my favorite course in NJ, The Grove in Manalapan (the hardest course in the NE US, as it's long and incredibly narrow/wooded, but so much fun despite how brutal it is), and Allaire (wooded, but not brutal like the Grove). The Rutgers course has great historical significance, but is just too easy, unless you play in a tourney there, where they put up a bunch of temp holes/long tees that are really fun. What is best disc golf course in North Jersey?
Only 2 playable courses across New York City and Long Island which is most convenient for me despite 12 million people living there. New Brooklyn course is too easy 9 hole course, other is very good 21 hole course but in remote Suffolk County location.
Usually I play with friends when visiting them in southern New England. Lots of nice courses there.
Yeah I consider this a cold and lightly snowy winter. So you think we are done with snow for the season? Or we got a couple more measurable events in it ? Take a guess !It has been cold and snowy from the perspective of having a ton of small snow events (13 events with measurable snow), but the odd thing is we're still behind the expected amount of snow for a typical winter despite Dec, Jan and Feb all being a decent amount colder than normal. Shrinkage??This frickin' wind is brutal - it's been constant since last night. Did not like walking out of the gym last night in shorts and having to deal with that.
Still a couple weeks off, according to the underground rat.Arousal?
Shouldn't these posts be in One Word Thread?

I don't guess at weather beyond a few weeks, but I doubt we're done with snow; I'd just go with climatology for March and say that getting our typical ~4.2" in March (for NB) wouldn't be unreasonable. While it looks warm this coming week the CPC (and long range models) is calling for colder than normal conditions for the first week of March with average to above average precip and then average temps, but above average precip for the 2nd/3rd weeks of March. That would generally lead to at least average snowfall levels.Yeah I consider this a cold and lightly snowy winter. So you think we are done with snow for the season? Or we got a couple more measurable events in it ? Take a guess !
The difference is I start at 6:30 am when I riding to work. When it's in the 20s and most of my days off on Friday and Saturday have been awful. Besides walking doesn't increase wind chill, cycling at 15mph is a drastic change from walking.I've barely missed any disc golf due to the weather. You should move here.............Nah, this one's about done, at least for me. Time to look ahead to the next threat in 8-9 days. Maybe I'll start a thread on that, lol.
So do you still think we get some snow this weekend?Nah, this one's about done, at least for me. Time to look ahead to the next threat in 8-9 days. Maybe I'll start a thread on that, lol.
Wind here discourages thatNice to open the windows and get some of that fresh Linden air in here.
That crisp Phillips 66 high pressureNice to open the windows and get some of that fresh Linden air in here.
Having worked there a number of times that crisp smell gets imbedded into your work clothes. It sucksThat crisp Phillips 66 high pressure
Yeah. The Phillips/Bayway refinery is close to the Turnpike. My late Father-In-Law worked there for many years.I can't remember clearly, but when my dad would drive us into Brooklyn back in the day to visit cousins and get a really bad haircut, we drove through what we called Stinkville as kids. Was it those refineries going to the Goethals?
I never "thought" we were getting snow this weekend - was just pointing out that there was a threat for this coming weekend as of this past Friday. That threat has evaporated. Looks mild on Saturday, then a front comes through with maybe a shower (or flurry well NW), making Sunday cold and blustery with highs struggling to get to the mid-30s in most locations. So do you still think we get some snow this weekend?
That’s right! It was probably Bayway. He didn’t always go that way. Used the Outerbridge as well.Yeah. The Phillips/Bayway refinery is close to the Turnpike. My late Father-In-Law worked there for many years.
C'mon. It was a thought as you brought it up!I never "thought" we were getting snow this weekend - was just pointing out that there was a threat for this coming weekend as of this past Friday. Once we're past this week, temps look fairly normal with precip projected to be in the normal to wet range for much of March, which in March means snow is always possible if the timing of cold/stormy coincide. But snow chances decline fairly rapidly after about 3/20 as things warm up. Our last big late March snowstorm was 3/21/18 when much of the area got 8-14" of snow.
Chin up #s. When I was in HS our 1st Golf match Apr 1, I believe, was postponed by snow. And let's not forget MLB has had postponed games for snow.I never "thought" we were getting snow this weekend - was just pointing out that there was a threat for this coming weekend as of this past Friday. 3/8-3/9 timeframe shows some potential...Any potential storms for next week Numbers/Bac?
