Is this a new record? 8+ pages for half an inch. It feels like it's gotta be. ☃️
Probably most pages per inch, lol, but only because of how potent it looked for a bit and then watching the model trainwreck over 12-24 hours to go from boom to yawn. Then the usual bickering, but the actual snow that fell from the upper level low was forecast pretty well.

I've had a grand total of 6 bike rides for a combined 138 miles since January 1st. By April that will be less than my weekly amount.
Damn right I riding tomorrow and Saturday my off days!! It's time!
I've barely missed any disc golf due to the weather. I actually enjoy playing in the snow, as long as it's not too deep (easy to lose discs), which hasn't been an issue this winter and I'll play with temps in the 20s with light winds and in the 30s with some wind. 20s and windy is a bit more than I want to play in, but we don't get too much of that.

Yup - got black ice written all over it. Could’ve been avoided.
Shouldn't get any black ice with temps way below 32F - usually get that when temps go above 32F leading to some melting which refreezes when temps go back below 32F. Nothing should melt tonight.

Hoping this is winter's last grasp
It's been misery and today is brutal as well
The only redeeming aspect is I was able to milk another Florida trip out of the whole thing

It has been cold and snowy from the perspective of having a ton of small snow events (13 events with measurable snow), but the odd thing is we're still behind the expected amount of snow for a typical winter despite Dec, Jan and Feb all being a decent amount colder than normal. Will have to ask one of the weather guys how often that has happened.

Been cold here above Boone NC. Low overnight temp of 1° with wind chill of - 7° but sun is out this morning. 9° at the moment, supposedly reaching 30° as today's high. Had about 8" of snow fall in the last 24 hours. Thankfully the wind has retreated. Winter is not nearly over....

Amidst all this, we just finalized all arrangements for an Alaskan Adventure, beginning mid-June. Exploring Denali and Kenai. #winterpeople

What is best disc golf course in North Jersey?

Only 2 playable courses across New York City and Long Island which is most convenient for me despite 12 million people living there. New Brooklyn course is too easy 9 hole course, other is very good 21 hole course but in remote Suffolk County location.

Usually I play with friends when visiting them in southern New England. Lots of nice courses there.

Yeah, some really good courses in New England from what I hear, but have only played a couple, and in NY in Westchester/Rockland Counties, like Warwick/Oasis, Mt. Kisco, FDR and more. I run into lots of NYC players at the relatively nearby courses in NJ, like Greystone (Morris Plains - beautiful, challenging course on a mountainside), Oak Ridge (nice open course in Clark), Thompson Park in Jamesburg (nice mix of holes, scenic), my favorite course in NJ, The Grove in Manalapan (the hardest course in the NE US, as it's long and incredibly narrow/wooded, but so much fun despite how brutal it is), and Allaire (wooded, but not brutal like the Grove). The Rutgers course has great historical significance, but is just too easy, unless you play in a tourney there, where they put up a bunch of temp holes/long tees that are really fun.

Further away than all of these are some other very nice courses, like Stafford Woods (Evesham, usually the top-rated course in NJ - just a superb layout), Camp Tecumseh (near Clinton - gorgeous course on rolling hills with a nice variety of open/wooded holes with water) and Doc Cramer (Manahawkin - very similar to Allaire - nice wooded course). Lots of very nice courses in the Lehigh Valley too. I haven't played the Brooklyn course yet nor anywhere on LI.

This frickin' wind is brutal - it's been constant since last night. Did not like walking out of the gym last night in shorts and having to deal with that.

Yeah I consider this a cold and lightly snowy winter. So you think we are done with snow for the season? Or we got a couple more measurable events in it ? Take a guess !

I don't guess at weather beyond a few weeks, but I doubt we're done with snow; I'd just go with climatology for March and say that getting our typical ~4.2" in March (for NB) wouldn't be unreasonable. While it looks warm this coming week the CPC (and long range models) is calling for colder than normal conditions for the first week of March with average to above average precip and then average temps, but above average precip for the 2nd/3rd weeks of March. That would generally lead to at least average snowfall levels.

https://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/

However, we just went through a pattern (2/8-2/22) that was expected to be about normal in temp with cold and warm shots and above normal in precip and we (using NB here, as this is an RU board) were a bit below normal in temp (about -2F) and well above average in precip (2.5" over those two weeks vs. about 1.5" of precip expected for half of Feb), but only slightly above normal in snowfall with 4.4" of snow in NB vs. an average of 8.3" per month (4.1" for half a month), as the area again, just missed a couple of more significant snowfalls on 2/8, 2/11, and 2/20 vs. what was expected even a few days before each event. We did a little better with 5.3" in Metuchen.

The difference is I start at 6:30 am when I riding to work. When it's in the 20s and most of my days off on Friday and Saturday have been awful. Besides walking doesn't increase wind chill, cycling at 15mph is a drastic change from walking.

I can't remember clearly, but when my dad would drive us into Brooklyn back in the day to visit cousins and get a really bad haircut, we drove through what we called Stinkville as kids. Was it those refineries going to the Goethals?

Yeah. The Phillips/Bayway refinery is close to the Turnpike. My late Father-In-Law worked there for many years.

So do you still think we get some snow this weekend?
I never "thought" we were getting snow this weekend - was just pointing out that there was a threat for this coming weekend as of this past Friday. That threat has evaporated. Looks mild on Saturday, then a front comes through with maybe a shower (or flurry well NW), making Sunday cold and blustery with highs struggling to get to the mid-30s in most locations.

Once we're past this week, temps look fairly normal with precip projected to be in the normal to wet range for much of March, which in March means snow is always possible if the timing of cold/stormy coincide. But snow chances decline fairly rapidly after about 3/20 as things warm up. Our last big late March snowstorm was 3/21/18 when much of the area got 8-14" of snow.

That’s right! It was probably Bayway. He didn’t always go that way. Used the Outerbridge as well.

C'mon. It was a thought as you brought it up!
I'm looking forward to spring. Days are longer already. Next weekend starts Daylight Savings Time. Too early if you ask me. That means dark mornings again.
It wasn't the snow lovers winter around here. We had long, brutal, cold times which stopped forecasted storms dry up with extremely dry, near zero dew points.

Chin up #s. When I was in HS our 1st Golf match Apr 1, I believe, was postponed by snow. And let's not forget MLB has had postponed games for snow.
