I enjoyed MoonKnight. I know Marvel made it to be a stand alone but I wonder how they will connect it to MCU which I've heard they eventually will.

They connected the Black Panther’s Ancestoral Plane to the Duat that Marc/Steven were in in Ep 5.

Wow I never even noticed that their Ancestoral realms shared some similarities. Another similaritiy I guess is black panther is like the avatar for Bast the panther God while moonknight would be the avatar for Khonsu. As mentioned before Marvel Knights could be a way to bring MK into the fold with him teaming up with shang Chi, Luke cage, dagger and black widow or join Wongs group called Midnight sons consisting of morbius, blade, ghost rider, man-thing, scarlet spider, dr. Voodoo, elsa bloodstone, and iron fist to help Dr. Strange defeat Mephisto.

Moon Knight hopefully ends a lot better than it started. I’m on episode 4 and the opening scene where they are in the desert and Layla saves the day with a flare is some of the worst action/writing I’ve ever seen. I’m about to turn it off and go watch Zoolander.

Was huge Marvel comic collector in 70s and 80s. Have tons of bronze and silver age stuff and only missing maybe 30 Avengers comics from 11-300

Always was disappointed that DC got movies made but not Marvel characters

Loved when they started to bring these characters to life...soured when they become formulatic and now avoid goung to see these movies as they have made ridiculous gender racial and even power changes of characters

From what I heard of Doctor Strange I would not be able to stand treatment of those characters

Agree - I’m a big comics fan and it’s really disappointing. At this point, I put Moon Knight in the Luke Cage series category. Terrible writing and scenes that simply don’t make sense. Even something as simply as the Konschu voice is ridiculous and total Disney BS. Episodes 4 and 5 are some of the worst I’ve seen across any Marvel series.

Dr Strange was good but not great. There were some great aspects in it though and some real fun fan service. Can discuss when more people see it.

Yea, it was a fun movie, but not top 5 MCU for me. I think Raimi did a little too much of his thing for a MCU movie (and I love some of his other stuff like the Evil Dead series).

great.. am watching 3 now... I sure hope I do not agree with 4 and 5 assessments... but suspect the worst. I liked all the gritty netflix marvel series.. Iron Fist was a little much.. but found everything else acceptable (which is high praise for comic book stuff originally aimed at kids.. I found the blonde friend's story on Jessica Jones to be a bit too much.. make her more like Bruce Wayne and that would help make it more believable.. $$$ and science)

I’d be curious to hear your thoughts on the last half of MK. For me, just lazy writing and the film sequences/editing seemed to be done with budget constraints in mind.

just saw the flare scene.... when I think of lazy writing.. I think of all those times it looks like the writer decided the outcome of a situation.. what they WANT/NEED to come about.. then just seem to take the first idea, no matter how implausible, to make it happen. Most of it should question the OUTCOME then need to happen.. if they cannot justify it reasonably. CHANGE IT... but that requires changing the story to accommodate different plot points.

Okay, Part 5 is about over... strange.. yes.. but not as bad as expected.. will agree the lead acting was.. er.. strained. I think an issue a series like this has is unfamiliarity with the main theme re: Egyptian gods. Would modern Egyptians even understand it? Aren't they generally Islamic and Coptic Christians? Would they have just as hard a time? And, psychologically.. they sought to explain and rationalize something that is inexplicable and irrational. Who can understand that? The best we can do is sympathize, imho.

I suppose that shows the difficulties that they set for themselves... can people sympathize, or more importantly, empathize with the protagonist? In generic superhero stuff the viewers can easily wonder about having those powers.. living that life.. but.. this?

Just saw Dr Strange MOM. Pretty good movie. Very different movie with a different vibe going in a different direction. Would like to see where this go. It’s funny that the same people who were complaining that all MCU movies followed the same formula were saying that this movie was too much into horror and was not MCU enough. I’m not saying that this movie was perfect but was a pretty good bridge from the Cap and Tony days towards the future of the Multiverse.

This movie proved a couple of points (NO SPOILERS):
- Just like in the comics Wanda is one of the most powerful in that universe. If the one in the MCU knew how powerful she was, it wouldn’t have taken long for her to defeat Thanos by herself.
-With all of the disappointing cameos in this movie (except for the one actual good but the one that many weren’t fanboying over) there was the one cameo that didn’t happened. The one the wouldve snapped Wanda out of her funk. Maybe next time.
-Although I would’ve liked to see how the big Scott Direckson Mushroom Trip Strange 2 would’ve been if he stayed on as director, I actually like the Sam Raimi/ Horror vibe this movie had. It was different than the other MCUs. Even the dreaded third act was better because it was different than the usual (trying not to spoil too much here).

Like I said, liked the movie. Great moments but not one of the HOLY SH**!!! TOP FIVE MOVIES EVER type. There’s some disappointment here but in a way it was understandable why people would be disappointed. But it is understandable why it happened the way it did. But to me it was still a good movie.

Welp, Ms. Marvel is now on the clock on Disney Plus.

Going off point two, waiting for the explanation why that character never appeared.

WAITING….

Also on second thought, there could’ve been a second cameo who helped her in the past who MAYBEEEEEEEE could’ve talked to her for a few minutes… Maybe not.

But that first one would’ve definitely snapped her out of it.

MCU has now reached the point where there are so many wizards, witches, magical artifacts, time devices, multi-verses, etc. that nobody is ever really dead and anything that happens can b reversed. In a way that's fine because comics are like that, I guess, but it does make things less interesting to me. It also means you can dole out the cheap thrills of killing off iconic characters on a whim, even multiple times, for the "fun" or "shock" value, as long as they are an alternate version with like a different costume, or mustache, or hairdo.

So what is the grace period before we can post about Dr Strange?

Just in case someone yells SPOILER, lol.

="People are saying that one particular death in Dr Strange MOM was one of the most horrific deaths ever. True… IDK how the hell they got away with that in a PG13 movie but BRAVO!

However is that also one of the dumbest deaths in movie history? The equivalent of the Japanese calling the US Navy on December 6, 1941 and tell them that they’re attacking Pearl Harbor? I mean WTF was Reed Richards thinking when he told THE MOST DANGEROUS PERSON IN THE MULTIVERSE his secret weapon in Black Bolt who probably could’ve actually killed her."

I agree with you but people are explaining it away that they didn't really believe she was that dangerous and he slipped up. I thought Captain Marvel dying so easy was dumb as well. People explaining it away that in that universe she's not as powerful as she is in 616. These are part of the reasons why I thought it was good not great.

Agreed…

="Although until Galactus, Gorr, and some of the other more powerful shows up, not many people could take down Wanda.

Another thing that they screwed up was showing too much in the trailers. Most of us went into the thought that “if they showed Prof X and Carter’s Shield in the trailer, what are they saving for the movie?” Would’ve been better if they did not show those and other Surprises. Didn’t learn their lesson with Hulk in Thor Ragnorok. "

Yup I hate that they did that. I almost avoided it all until one popped up during a Mets game right before release so it was ruined. I guess all they really cared about was keeping Krasinski as Reed

Congrats to Kamala Khan for becoming the first MCU character to be mentioned as a Mutant during the Disney + series Ms Marvel. So the Mutants are FINALLY coming!

Im sure people here will dog 💩 the hell out of Ms Marvel for their reasons. But this was a cute show that is more for kids like my grandkids can get into. Considering that it was filmed in Atlanta and you know that wasn’t Jersey City, the city was represented well and the family background with the Pakistan/India partition was interesting.

Definitely not for everyone but this show is DEFINITELY setting up Young Avengers, Secret Wars, and of course MUTANTS!

I liked Ms. Marvel a lot more than I ever thought I would. Liked the characters and how they weaved the story from past to present. Yesterday was awesome with the X men music note and DNA talk. Also the end credits scene with Captain Marvel switching with Ms. Marvel. Enjoyed all 6 eps. She Hulk next.

I personally also really enjoyed it. I'm a white dude but have Pakistani friends and they definitely nailed the culture really well. Brie Larson also looked like she lost weight, almost to the point of being anorexic.

Thought I misheard at first since it it's such an obscure reference that 95% of people wouldnt get.
