This is a boilerplate retention letter. And it's the reason why Tucker is going to get the vast majority of what he was owed when this thing finally settles. The settlement will come right after Mich State's lawyers examine their own clients' emails. There's always embarrassing stuff in there that an entity with deep pockets (like a university) would pay through the nose to keep from becoming public.
Mel Tucker is gonna get everything and more. This is a setup. Her dead assistant's emails (which was her using the asst.'s computer) show her intent to cover up other affairs as well as the one with Tucker.
She tried to "settle" for $10k. Just the tip of the iceburg.
