This thread will become the regular season thread when Spring Training Concludes
Heading to Naples to see my pops later this month to hit Sox/Twins in Ft. Myers, but keep meaning to get over to PSL w/himI’m heading down in the beginning of March again. Two away games and three home.
Did it last year. Highly recommend if it works for you.
I would write into every single one of my player contracts that I am not approving them going to the WBC and if they decide to go and get injured, it gives me the right not to have to pay them for that year. lol OR make sure that insurance waiver is in every contract like Lindor.I really don't like McLean in the WBC. The Mets will already be trying to gently stretch him beyond the 160 innings he threw last year.
I presume, though, that his outings in the WBC will be short.
When he was alive and they were still down there, his place used to have bus trips to the Twins and the Red Sox complex.Heading to Naples to see my pops later this month to hit Sox/Twins in Ft. Myers, but keep meaning to get over to PSL w/him
Might do it late March - great venue, but haven't been there in over 10 years
It’s been years since I made it to PSL but spring training games in general are the best.I’m heading down in the beginning of March again. Two away games and three home.

Truer words have never been spokenIt’s been years since I made it to PSL but spring training games in general are the best.
Being a baseball junkie, living here in the Valley is about as good as it gets. There are days I go to the facility and never see the game. I’ll spend the whole day walking around the back fields watching guys in the cage or working on the field.
A couple years ago I saw Mike Trout on a back field and told him us Essex County guys didn’t believe that Millville was really in NJ. He laughed and stopped to talk with me for about 15 minutes.
Part of what makes spring training special.

I had no idea how much access we had while down there.Truer words have never been spoken
I enjoy spring training much more then the regular season - being there it feels like being a kid all over again
I had no idea how much access we had while down there.
Fans were very well behaved and the players were very approachable.
My older boy got to watch Diaz warm up in their pit area. When he was really throwing you could feel the air move out of the way. And the pop in the mitt sounded like a gunshot.

The BlueClaws have that set up too.Watching baseball while laying on a blanket in the outfield with a cold beer is about as good as it gets.
Reminds me of the first baseball game I brought my first wife to as we were dating. Back in the day of making $23k with working 60 hour weeks- was looking for a game in 1985- had a specific Saturday she wanted to go to her first game- so- I looked on ticketmaster or whatever it was at the time- and swear to a complete shock- they had 2 seats 5 rows back within the home plate net. I want to say it may have been about 4 or 5 seats to the 3rd base side of homeplate. Best seats I will ever have to watch a game. And I have had box seats at Yankee WS games. This was different. They were $35 each. Still expensive for my broke *** but, she was worth it! - ok, at the time.Great athletes like that are like fine art
Years ago I had great seats to see Randy Johnson pitching for the Yankees. All I remember is the sizzling sound the ball made as it flew thru the air to the catchers mitt. I have been to many games but he was something special to watch (and hear)
Can you imagine trying to catch that?!? I could barely see the ball!
Love watching bullpens w/the ball hitting the mittI had no idea how much access we had while down there.

One of the few remaining joys in lifeWatching baseball while laying on a blanket in the outfield with a cold beer is about as good as it gets.
They also have the big lounge chairs in left and right fieldThe BlueClaws have that set up too.
But I could not do that for a day game in Port St. Lucie.skin.
And FYI…the Cyclones will be in Lakewood a lot this season. Always fun to check out the future.
Those are supposed to be lifeguard stands...in keeping with the Jersey Shore motif. They also have the big lounge chairs in left and right field
It's fun sitting in that thing - but scary coming down!
Ahh that's rightThose are supposed to be lifeguard stands...in keeping with the Jersey Shore motif.
Last year was his first full year pitching. He only gave up hitting about midway through the 2024 season which shows even more how far he's come in a really quick amount of time.Something I didn't realize about Nolan McLean. This is his first major league camp. Last year he was toiling on the back fields with about 150 other minor league hopefuls. He has certainly come a long way in a short time.
And the price is right.Ahh that's right
I like it over there - cool atmosphere, laid back, easy to get to
Yeah, the back of his baseball card shows a history of limited pitching. I'm hoping that's a positive regarding wear and tear on his harm, but there are also a number of ways it can be a negative, particularly this year serving as the ace.Last year was his first full year pitching.
