Lindor being evaluated for hamate bone injury. He may require surgery. If so, there will be a six week recovery period.

It continues to amaze me why athletes don’t deal with these matters during the off season !
From what I understand it's been on and off for a long time. It was fine in the off-season but when he got to camp was doing some activities it flared up again enough for him to say something.

Anyways happy official P&C Reporting Day!

Lindor, Carroll, and Holliday all with hamate injuries now. Kinda odd to see.

So- guess it looks like opening lineup should be

C - Alvarez
1B -Polanco
2B - Semien
3B - Baty
SS - Bichette
LF - Soto
CF - Robert Jr.
LF - Benge
DH - Vientos

Curious who becomes leadoff now

Bichette isn't going to play SS. They want him fully focusing on 3B. Also RF isn't guaranteed to Benge even though I'm sure they would like him to win the job.

Do they just bring up Mauricio for SS if Lindor isn't ready or maybe offer a minor league contract to OMG?

Who do you believe would be in RF? I would think they had a "plan" before they announced Soto to LF

I think they believe Lindor will be back very close to OD so they will go with the internal options like Mauricio or Brujan. I would not close the door on a guy like Iglesias though.

As for RF I'm assuming it's just going to be the same options they had ready for LF. As I mentioned I think they really want Benge to win the job but if not I expect Baty or Taylor there for now with maybe even Jared Young getting a shot.

I just saw that the WhiteSox GM thought that Acuna was a switch hitter...Since Acuna was pretty much the major trade piece to get Robert Jr. - how does the GM that made the trade not know every detail?

He got dragged a lot for it. I'm sure he knew but for whatever reason he got it stuck in his head that Acuna was a SH. Not a great look at all but he made fun of it the next day but certainly odd.

Yeah- he was smart enough to make fun of himself and not try to make an excuse for it. It is too bad that way too many people do not get this concept. But yeah- bad look, as doing it once is just an oops but o do it 4 times and then even pretty much admit to it...while he got in front of it- it just is not a good look. It will be forgotten but wow.

Vientos will get time at 1B for sure. If Polanco doesn't cut it at 1B(Doubtful) the mand Vientos looks better they could switch between 1B/DH.

Am I the only one that had no idea Craig Kimbrel was in the Mets camp? Does he have anything left?

Caveat - I haven't read the first two pages of this thread.
Anything left?

On another note…why does it seem that everyone leaving the organization seem to be either giving vibes they are happy to get out or just straight out dissing the organization like Hefner is?

It was reported here but I doubt you're the only one. I don't expect much at all.

lots of bitty p...'s in sports but you rarely see this...and yeah- he was overboard, but you just don't feel the love of the Met journey from anyone that left.

Reminds me in business where you are told when you are interviewing for a new job, to never talk bad about your former employer. That is the feel I get from players and coaches that left.

There was a lot of that with many players (not all but quite a few) in the GS 1.0 era that went into the NFL...you would get the cookie cutter responses when asked about playing for Greg or at Rutgers.

To be fair with the coaches though, many of them may be a bit perplexed on why they were booted and Mendoza is still sitting pretty

His reference to "that other team up north"... is that the full extent of how Hefner supposedly ripped the Mets? Is that it? If so, I think y'all are being a tad too sensitive.

Hefner was speaking to Atlanta media and playing to his audience.
Social media is full of meanness. But he got ripped in the comments under the interview

Great interview with Howie and Cohen. How anyone can get on this guy as an owner is not a serious person.

@yesrutgers01 about what you said earlier with the exit interview stuff…

I can remember Scherzer and Verlander saying much better things. Now granted, management was different, but ownership was the same.

I'd thought about the comment that everyone leaving the Mets either has bad vibes about them or rips them, and I rePETEdly couldn't figure it out.

I don't think it is an ownership thing - think about it- we all can figure out that Cohen pushed for Pete last year and Soto as well. Stearns just seems the type of guy that gives off such an "off" vibe about him...

not sure about the Pete comment...are you agreeing or are you saying that Pete was glowing about the Met's

Setting aside that the comment from Hefner, who was fired, wasn’t really negative, I don’t know what else you’re talking about.

The real bitter ex coach is Chavez and he's a moron because he'll probably never get a job in baseball again.
IDK. Here's Chavez's instagram post of October 3.

"So thankful for my time w/ the Mets. Thank you to the Cohen's best owners in baseball. And especially the players, that group is super special and they worked their assess (sic) off. Be grateful in every situation. On to the next !!!"

I don't assess anything negative there.

He did have a structural criticism (as did some on this board) of the concept of co-hitting coaches. He said that there should be one clear voice in communicating with players. But I don't think there was anything remotely venomous about that comment.
