It is strange in how I don't recall coaches like this ever really blasting Organizations like Hefner and Chavez have. And even players- if you have been around it enough, it is often what is "not" said, that catches the eye.
And the player comments when they thank the Met's - it all sounds cookie cutter and if you look close- there is a specific part of the organization they tend to leave off their cookie cutter comments.
Like I said- reminds me a lot of comments by players of the GS 1.0 era. You may not get the negative but the responses all sounding like the - "don't know your previous employer" type of response.
You all know that I have my doubts about Stearns- And it goes beyond Pete/Diaz.
He may have filled holes this off season but where is the sustainability. Almost everyone of the good players that he did bring in- have an out after this year. And he still has holes on the team.
The prior couple of years- his trades have been mostly bad, he doesn't have a real statement move (and no- Soto does not fall into that).
And everyone says- look at what he did for the Brewers- ok- he got them into the playoffs, built teams that were good, but never great. And he is gone now on his 3rd year and they just continue to keep going. They have not fallen apart after he left.
He alienates most of the fanbase and he does not seem to have any real feel for players or coaches and comes off like they are all just chest pieces.
Maybe that ends up working, who knows. But it hasn't so far. And that is with all the money in the world.
Mets continue their collection of former Dodger backup catchers, claiming Ben Rortvedt on waivers. Rortvedt hit .429 in the postseason last year (3 for 7) so there's that.

I only noticed Vietos and Brett. Probably typed out by some intern.
Versatile too. Played all three OF positions when he was with the Cubs. A little streaky at the plate, but who isn't? A good bench asset to have if he can make the team.
I know he didn't like the co-hitting coach thing. But didn't that start before the new VP of Baseball?

No problem. Chavez was attacking Stearns because of Alonso and some other stuff. There's some screen grabs out there.
So far in the minors, he gets a lot of Ks, and he walks the ballpark.
Michael Conforto has signed a minor league deal with the Cubs. Some players age faster than others.
It's not really aging. His game just dropped off a cliff after 2019/20, when he was only 26/27. Maybe it's the shoulder injury. I'm not sure, but it doesn't seem like age.

Just saw Mad Max signing with Toronto. Why in the world is he and Verlander not just retiring at this point. Verlander may be trying to push for 300 wins but he will have to pitch until he is 50 to do so but Max? Makes no sense
Max has been injured most of the last 5 years. Neither one has anything left to prove. Both are 1st ballet HOF both have mult championships. Both have generational wealth, beautiful wives and very young children. All athletes have a tough time walking away but both are also declining rapidly.
4 strong innings from McLean today. No runs 1 hit, 6 ks, 1 walk.
the kid is really just a beast...Now, we need Peralta to follow up on his past year and one of Senga, Manaea or Peterson to step it up. I sort of expect Holmes to be pretty good this year. At least a 3/4 type of very solid year. Would love to see Tong get another year of seasoning and working on his new pitches
But, again, they love it. Most people don't retire until decades later. If they want to play, and someone will take them, more power to them.
Ewing really showing his skills so far this spring. Another really good day today, 2-2 with a HR, and 3 runs scored. He’s not ready for Queens yet but he’s coming fast.
Mets made their first cuts today. They cut three guys to go from 73 to 70. (Like, why bother?) The only recognizable name was Alex Carrillo, who sipped some coffee with the Mets last year. He's still on the 40 man though, so we haven't seen the last of him.
Also Grae Kessinger, a backup shortstop with great shortstop bloodlines, suffered a major hamstring injury. I suspect we have seen the last of him.
