Postgame takeaways: Devils kick the Rangers while they're down
They have the potential to be scary ******* good. Was there tonight and it should have been a 6-2 score. But a win is a win.
The Bratt/Hughes/Palat line looked indefensible tonight and has for a while now. I'm not Palat's biggest fan, but his linemates are always forthcoming in giving him credit for opening up the play for them - so who am I to judge?

Just played a great, complete game all over the ice. Unfortunately our keeper let in another soft goal.
I made 3 games on this homestand, 3 wins. Things are getting better at home. Keep winning on the road and the sky is the limit!
Of course I was at the 2 they lost

Agree on everything said. My wife, son and I were watching from that end of the ice. Right after they scored, I told my wife that Bratt was a HUGE part of it. Fun to watch what happened in that 2 minutes.
This is a big game measuring stick game tonight. We usually struggle vs bigger teams and lock it down. Grudge match too as they just beat us not to long ago at home.
I have my qualms with Fitzgerald, but what a move getting Kovacevic for peanuts. Guy has been one of the best defenders in the NHL
I wasn't sure about Fitzgeralds ability to forge a culture, but more and more, I'm thinking the problem was Ruff more than the roster. Roster is better this year than last, but system and structure matter and Keefe has done a great job.
He really solidified the defense with Pesce/Dillon signings and trading for Kovacevic. He’s been an absolute steal . Sucks he’s only under contract for this season . Plus it allowed fitzy to ship off Marino for extra picks .
This has been mentioned by a few of the players this year.
And also by others connected to the team.
Columbus goalie played out of his mind in Blue Jackets 4-2 win. Devils threw everything but the Kitchen Sink at him. Thought Allen could/should have had a couple of the 3 goals he let in. Once again Hamilton coughed one up to the opponent in our D zone which resulted in a goal. Have you noticed that he never gets time on the penalty kill? How this guy is considered an NHL defenseman is beyond me. I'd play Hughes at the point on the first power play unit. Send Hamilton down to Utica & bring up a Dman to take up his place.
Mr. Hughes actually predicted Luke would be the best in an interview a few year's back.
They've gotten goalie'd a lot this year but this is a scary good team when they defend this way with their offensive talent
I believe He said Luke was ahead of Quinn’s development at most stages of his playing career Plus he’s the biggest of all 3 .

Couple things worked out and we could be in a good spot. A very good spot.
NHL record 7 straight games without allowing more than 20 shots. Amazing
Correct AND defense wins championships. Question is, is this their best D ever? We shall see.
Talent wise? I don’t know. But combined with fantastic coaching - certainly could be.
And at this point, that goaltending is looking pretty good!
Yes. Played a near perfect game today. Hamilton is still a liability waiting to show itself. Thinks he's a forward. Constantly up on the rush & has to be covered for. Also insists on backhand passes out of our D zone--sometimes no look, plus he's soft & slow, tough lately he seems to be shaking his backside & moving a little more quickly. Think that the Dev's pace is dragging him along.
Markstrom with back to back 12 save shutouts lol, the defense is special just gotta stay healthy.
Complete domination in every aspect . PK , PP , 5 v 5 , physicality . Even Bratt was out there throwing the body . Place was buzzing. Great way to go into Xmas break . Cheers everyone
Absolutely nothing better than beating the Rags. Beating them so far 10-1 on the season is the best
