The Mets cannot continue at this pace:Their ERA is 1.91,while their batting average is .197.
In 1972,they started out 25-7 and wound up just slighty above .500.

That'll buy him a lot of those meals that he seems to love. I don't see him as a generational player to whom you'd drive the Brinks truck.

It's fun being a Met fan again. They wont continue at this pace but at least we have an owner who is going to bring in the needed talent. The back page of the newspaper is going to be fun!

I'll add more to the Honorable Mention as the seasons move on. Jack Wenninger had a really good start as well during the week. Hot starts from some of the younger Brooklyn bats and some of the St. Lucie guys as well. McLean focusing on pitching full time is really going to take off. He has what some people think is an 80 grade sweeper. You don't see many 80 grade anything.

I assume the pitch falling off the table to the left is the pitch we are talking about. That is nasty.

Weird reference in my mind- I saw these pitches in this video and the Met's pitcher who jumped immediately into my head was Neil Allen. Didn't he have some nasty pitch like this. May have been his curveball.

Continuing to lead a charmed life with this pitching so far. I'm sure it's not sustainable at the level it's been which is just lights out. At some point we will need to produce more offense.

Just picked up 4 tickets for the July 3rd game against the Brewers.

Got them thru Costco.

Anthony Veneziano, the rookie reliever for the Marlins who pitched an inning last night, is from Hackettstown. He was good friends in high school with a former co-workers son. Anthony's father died suddenly when he was in high school. They found him in his car stopped in traffic - I believe it was an aneurysm. My co-worker mentored him somewhat after that. He went to Coastal Carolina for college. Got a look from RU but said RU's recruiting experience was pretty poor.

The one in Ocean Township. Cardboard cutouts. They were initially right by the front when you walk in. But probably moved to where the books and other vouchers (movies, restaurants, etc.) are sold now.

$99 for two seats in in the lower level along the right (Sections 105-108) or left (Sections 127-131) field lines. It also includes a $30 dollar food voucher too. $15 for each seat.

Pay at register and they give you the voucher to go on line and get your seats. Easy process. Tickets are now digitally saved in my son’s MLB Tickets account.

There is a Q-code on the back of the cardboard cutout to see what games are still available before you buy. Important to know because this purchase is one of the very few things from Costco you can’t return.

Not offered for every game. So no Yankees, Dodgers or Red Sox available.

But many dates, days, times and teams available across the whole season.

Online the same seats I picked were being sold for $105 each. And didn’t include food.

Today's generation:Moving game times because of the cold.
The Mets' home opener in 1967 was played in conditions suitable only for Ron Cey.
At 11:30 AM,the time and temperature clock next to Silvercup on the #7 line read 28 degrees.
I believe it was 35 at game time.By the eighth inning,the ink in my ball point froze.

That play when the Mets tied it: if the ball bounced into the stands there and doesn’t hit the netting do they keep Soto at third?

Yes. Ball bounces into the stands, it's two bases. No umpire discretion.

The umpire does have discretion in fan interference calls.
