Was Beltran good in his his first year with the Mets? I can't recall. And Piazza came in a trade.Ventura, Beltran and Piazza also very good/great. Lindor will be great and Soto will be great as well.
Beltran was not good in 2005, his first year as a Met. He exploded (in a good way) in 2006 and remained consistently very good through 2009. Had a down year in 2010, regained his form and restored his value in the first half of 2011, and was traded at mid season for Wheeler. Was Beltran good in his his first year with the Mets? Ventura is probably the best example of a Met free agent signing who excelled in his first year.
This is not going to be well received by the fans ….

All good. As a rule, if you see an outlandish quote or story from some source you never heard of, and nobody else is running with it, well...
Well, she probably can’t be any worse than what we’ve seen already.
I agree 100%Ventura, Beltran and Piazza also very good/great. Lindor will be great and Soto will be great as well.
This from a guy who's posted numerus negative comments, are you frigging kidding me? When the Mets turn things around don't come back how's that? Front runner fan, you belong in the Dead Zone thread. This thread sucks. Enjoy the misery, Mets fans.

That’s just what not hitting looks like.My biggest concern is that they look listless and playing without emotion!
2 HR game is always nice to see! People forget he's still young for his level so his acclimation this year is another positive development that we've seen this season. Our best power hitting prospect by far.Watching the AA Subway Series right now between Binghamton and Somerset.
I know it’s AA but Ryan Clifford looks pretty good.
HOW CAN YOU TELL?My biggest concern is that they look listless and playing without emotion!
I don't think I've ever seen a MLB fan base watch their minor league system as much as Met fans on this site. Congrats to you for your dedication to the entire program and not just the guys on the field in the bigs.August 6 Mets Farm Report (Top 30 Prospects per MLB Pipeline)

You think what you like. I beg to differ!HOW CAN YOU TELL?
Because they're not throwing helmets, breaking bats over their knees, or punching walls in the dugout?
How does a team show that it isn't listless, that it is playing with emotion? My #1 answer is: on the basepaths. That is where you can steal bases (something the Mets are very good at), take the extra base, and do all those wonderful things that fans love to see.
Problem is, you can't steal first base.
I would add that playing with too much emotion (otherwise known as "pressing") doesn't help. On the contrary, good hitters will tell you that when they are on a hot streak, they feel very relaxed at the plate.
I watched some of that but unfortunately it was the part after he had already left the game.![]()
Mets' prospect Brandon Sproat pitches another six terrific innings for Triple-A
Fresh off being named International League Pitcher of the Month for his incredible July, Mets top pitching prospect Brandon Sproat kept things going by starting his August with another terrific performance.sports.yahoo.com

It's next to impossible to follow the Padre minor league prospects as Preller trades them all every year at the Deadline.
Has to be pretty cool to be able to do that. If I lived near Iowa or South Bend, I would definitely `be checking out the Cubs' younger players. They also have an affiliate in Myrtle Beach. That wouldn't be bad either...My Son and I went to spring training this year to check out the younger players.
We also go to the minors league BlueClaws (Phillies) when they are playing the Mets farm team, the Brooklyn Cyclones.
And if Somerset was closer or Trenton still had the Thunder, we’d go there to check out the Mets farm team too.
