Don’t worry guys, remember this is a good team
At a certain point you are what your record says you are. And since June they have just been a bad team. Since June 13th the only teams with a worse record than the Mets and Yankees are the Nats and Rockies. Don't want to hear about oh it's just a bad stretch. Every team goes thru them. True; but 50 games is not just a stretch. That's approaching a third of the season. And over their last 50 or so they are around 12 games under .500

This team is so frustrating. And putting in a RP to start in front of your starter, well, that should tell you all you need to know about Montas- dude is shot.

As for this foot speed stuff- those are some crazy stats. And it is why more managers really need to go back to their baseball knowledge and gut. Based on those charts, I am pinch running for Lindor, McNeil and guys like that.

Mendosa's answer about Marte/Taylor should have just been a simple "Marte is a smart veteran and very good base runner. I trust him on the basepath in these situations."

OMG, the Mets are playing small ball as a way to generate runs especially when you're struggling.
Does it matter? If they score the pitching doesn't hold up. If they happen to get quality pitching they don't score. Is there a reason to be confident at this point that this game will end in any way other than another gut-punch in the form of a walk-off loss. Whether its in 9 or extra innings. Makes you almost not want to watch.

Don’t worry guys, Still a good team!! That’s what I’m told anyway.

If you can’t see how broken they are you’re blind. After shocking me with 6 runs early, there was no doubt they’d go limp from then on out. Buncha losers

Somehow the brewers have gotten better since Stearns has left. Maybe we hired a dud?

Coming into the year, I didn’t think the pitching was good enough. Incredibly they built a great first 2 to 2.5 months based on outstanding pitching, eventually getting to 21 games over .500. All of that has collapsed. The hitting is poor in the clutch but the big problem is poor pitching.

That is true. However, this was supposed to be an elite offensive team. Lindor, Vientos, Alvarez, Taylor, and Soto have all underperformed relative to expectations. That's half the offense. And nobody has overperformed.

Granted, Soto has been very good, but he is being paid to be great.

I think to a good degree that roaring start was a result of relatively easy schedule. In compiling that 45-24 record we played 2 series each with Colorado and Washington. And also had 3 game series with the A's, Twins, White Sox, Orioles and Pirates. Also got some others that are doing well now but got off to poor starts. Toronto, Boston and even Miami fall into that category. And even then that record was in large part buoyed by what was then great pitching. The offense wasn't good even then other than home runs. We were never 21 games over .500 good and as the scheduled has toughened things have played out that way. We are now a decent team at home that is terrible on the road. Which makes us overall mediocre to average.

Agree that the first one-third of the season was fool's gold (to use a Parcells term). The pitching was unsustainably good. For a long while the team ERA was under three, best in MLB by a wide margin. When the inevitable reversion to the mean occurred, the offense was incapable of picking up the slack.

Agree - We were winning a lot of games where the offense was terrible. We knew the pitching wouldn't be able to keep that up but I figured the offense would warm up in the summer heat and we'd outscore teams. Yesterday in the top of the 9th, Soto had a 2-0 count and took a meatball just above the center of the strike zone. Why isn't he looking to blast that pitch into orbit? He ended up drawing a walk which is good on its own. But when your team needs a lift in a tie game, you can't watch a meatball go past you with a 2-0 count.

Such a strange season. Still plenty of time to turn it around but it sure doesn't look like a playoff team right now.

With another Yankees win and Mets loss, the Yanks will have a better winning percentage and kbee will finally come out of hiding. He already did this earlier this season. Seriously, it's hard to believe the Mets are really this bad. I can see them coming out of this funk, reeling off 8 out of 10, securing a post season spot and then who knows, come October. LFGM!!!
