The offense has been clicking for more than two weeks. Going back to a calendar month they lead all of baseball in all things offense.
Yes, I know- I used 15 days because the number of AB's in that time look like a normal season for a single player. But the Met's are at or near the top in almost every category for well over a month now. Mullins is literally the only guy not crushing it. Over the past 30 days- the starter with the worst BA is Alonso at .287

Mullins has been a disappointment so far. I'd rather play McNeil there and get Mauricio some AB's. After missing all of last season and not playing much down the stretch, this has hurt his development big time.

The offense has been a bit of an enigma this year, primarily due to it being incredibly streaky. At times, it can't hit a lick, and then other times it's like this.

That said, they can win with this offense. More than anything, the pitching is the reason we were suddenly fighting for the wild card for a while and why we're looking up at the Phillies right now.

He not only led the Mets to their 1986 World Series win, but he made the final out in the Mets other World Series win in 1969. Imagine if the Mets win this years World Series in the year Davey passed!

Wish could have happened while Davey was still alive, but hopefully posthumously put up at the top of the stadium next season.

Thank you Davey!
The days of Davey were the best ever as a Met's fan. And his teams most likely get another Championship if they played in this era of expanded playoffs. It's funny- most old timers remember him most as the Brave 2B that held the 2B HR record. But even I forgot how good of a fielder he was.

Other than our manager I remember Davey mostly for making the final out of the ‘69 World Series, a warning track fly ball caught by Cleon Jones.

So- as the season is winding down- it is amazing that we have 2 players that are most likely top 5 MVP voting. It got me looking at the others- and I had not realized that Ohtani has only played 5 games in the field(not counting P) in his entire career. So great- he is a great hitter...good pitcher and we have no damn idea if he has a clue on catching a ball or making a defensive play when needed. Not only wear and tear on the body but this means that when his team is in the field- he gets to do more studying of the pitchers, his swing - go down into the cages etc.
Imagine a Judge or Soto if they got to do this every single game of their career.
It doesn't take away that he is a great player- but I do think DH deserves a big knock when it comes to MVP. I am ok with the HOF for DH but for MVP, not so much.
I would be very curious if Ohtani would have been this good if he played the field every day.

Some interesting stats and a nice tribute to Davey Johnson by Daryl Strawberry.

He became the first manager in Major League Baseball history to win 90 or more games in each of his first five seasons, and secured the aforementioned World Series title in his third year at the helm.

"I'm deeply saddened by the loss of Davey Johnson, a remarkable leader who transformed the Mets franchise into a winning organization," Strawberry wrote. "His ability to empower players to express themselves while maintaining a strong commitment to excellence was truly inspiring. Davey's legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of fans and players alike. My heartfelt condolences go out to Susan Johnson and the entire Johnson family during this difficult time. He will be missed but remembered for his incredible impact on the game and the lives he touched. Love You Forever Davey Johnson."

Things are getting a little tight around here again. Every time you think they've gotten into a nice little groove.

Didn't watch the game throughout yesterday because of you know.. football. But I saw enough to say that Sproat pitched well enough to win. But got little support from the bats. Big week ahead now. Something to watch-Tre Turner who leads the NL in batting and in total hits, left their game yesterday with a hamstring. Has an MRI scheduled

Mr. McLean and Mr. Sproat, welcome to being a good young Mets pitcher. Enjoy great outings and no run support
