Wishful thinking, but you gotta love the teams Toronto and Milwaukee have put together where you have contact hitting, advancing runners with productive outs, and good baserunning/good defense.

NYY just lacks basic baseball skills.

The problem is pervasive. They train the kids in the minors in their new school of thought... getting rid of Boone doesn't fix that problem. Jomboy went into some detail on that last night and he's right that the only hitter they've recently developed internally is Judge and he went and got his own hitting coach. It's time for an organizational makeover.

Boone is only a symptom of the problem. Cashman and his garbage analytics are the root cause and that needs to change.

Rumor = Cashman gone (or "promoted") and Jeter comes in to take over baseball operations

If Hal wants to win, do what your dad would do for once.

“Aaron did a good job,” Jeter said on the Fox postgame show as he, David Ortiz and Alex Rodriguez discussed what went wrong this season. “He’s working with what he has to work with, and he sticks up for his players. I know he takes a lot of heat.

“Look, I’m not saying it from any inside knowledge, but I’m pretty sure Aaron’s not the one that’s calling every move they make throughout the game.”
