FIRE CASHMAN!
You can make a valid excuse for the 3-5 starters struggling. But the bullpen has been horrendous for the majority of the first six weeks.

The offense, minus Judge, has also been really bad.
If the AL wasn't so bad, this team would be well below .500 by now.

But hey...Steinbrenners still making $$$.

In the category of MLB idiotic stats Williams pitches two-thirds of an inning, gives up three runs on two walks and a hit.......but gets credit for a "Hold".

We'll take it though.

Welp, he proved he couldn't pitch in the 9th inning and be effective.
Last nite he proved he couldn't pitch effectively in the 8th inning as a setup guy.

The next step is can he accomplish anything pitching in the 7th inning with a lead?

The ultimate result might be to let him pitch in a game following Warren where the NYY are down 5-0 after 3 innings.

They should trade him to the Mets, where he can join their starting rotation.

A good series between two good teams. I'm glad that Merrill was able to play. I don't think that most non Padre fans know how good this kid is.
This Yankees fan knows him; Jackson Merrill could be a real special player. Right now he's looking like the best position player out of his draft class. Hopefully he's got a long career ahead of him.

The bats picked up the pen tonight and Escarra gets his first career walkoff. Love that kid's story. Kid, lol he's 30 years old.

I'm convinced Boone had zero idea how to work with this bullpen.

Even Weaver is having issues.
Weaver is by far our best reliever right now. Dude has been lights out except for one outing all year.

There appears to be a bunch of weak bats in the Yankees lineup. The Padres appear to have more above average hitters.
It's going to be interesting how much patience mgmt has with Dominguez?

I hope they don't pull the plug too soon.

Bullpen has really struggled and it's not because they're worn down.

Outside of Weaver and Hill, might be the worst Yankee group in the last decade
And I'm starting to believe Escarra should be catcher#1.

Funny you should say that. I was reading an old article on MLB.com about that 2021 draft class and this was one of the things they said about Merrill.

27. Padres: Jackson Merrill, SS, Severna Park HS (Md.)
Merrill was a huge pop-up prospect in Maryland whom scouts were pouring in to see as the spring wore on, though few projected him as a first-round pick. It sounds like the Yankees almost took him at No. 20, so the Padres were probably thrilled to get him here.

Guess you guys aren't watching? Stadium is hyped up, postseason atmosphere.

Yankees being patient and taking a lot of pitches. Looking good so far.

Rodon finally looks like the pitcher the Yankees thought they were getting last year.

As a Met fan, I have to say that if Cole had not gone down, you guys would have a starting three that would be hard to compare to. Fried may be the FA pickup of the year and Rodon is finally getting it done. Also thought the move to bring Cruz in was a quiet smart move for a kid with so much potential.
Goldschmidt, us NL fans have known for years that this is just a professional baseball player. And it looks like Bellinger may be getting warmed up.

Your team looks like it may have another good run in it.

What are all your thoughts on Volpe?

That was a fun series until the last couple of innings.
