As a Met fan, I have to say that if Cole had not gone down, you guys would have a starting three that would be hard to compare to. Fried may be the FA pickup of the year and Rodon is finally getting it done. Also thought the move to bring Cruz in was a quiet smart move for a kid with so much potential.
Goldschmidt, us NL fans have known for years that this is just a professional baseball player. And it looks like Bellinger may be getting warmed up.

Your team looks like it may have another good run in it.

What are all your thoughts on Volpe?

That was a fun series until the last couple of innings.
Obviously Cashman doesn't have a better option than Volpe right now, but he seems to have hit his plateau.

Just a very average player.

Everyone keeps forgetting that Gil will be back for the 2nd half and he has #2 Rotation stuff if in form. Also - Rodon had a pretty good season (not great) last year - especially for a #3 starter this season. Just think that he may be the #4 starter next season.

He's just meh. Does some things well, some things poorly. He'll be another Torres, kept on the cheap and then move on once he hits free agency.
We need to do better, but I guess there are bigger holes.

Pretty much. They need to hit on some position players for the future. We seem good at developing relievers and the occasional decent starting pitcher. Wells is fine and will only improve offensively I'm guessing. We need a guy like Lombard or Vivas to really take off so we can put our free agency money where its needed.

SSDD...Volpe has been just BRUTAL getting runners home from 3rd base with <2 outs.

Another failure tonite.
With the latest futility, he's left 11 men on base in his last 6 ABs.

Cashman needs to seriously make a move now. Additionally, he's not great defensively either.
Guys...I'm really trying the reverse psychology thing.

I can still envision a scenario where Volpe gets traded if Cashman feels Chisholm is an option at SS and Jorbit stays at 2B.
Curious as you most likely watch these guys play more than I do so I am only seeing highlights and stats. As much as Volpe has not quite lived up to the hype, he still seems to be a better all around player than either of those two. Chisholm has power but is a horrible hitter outside of that.

I don't think Jazz is a SS (he's only played about 45 games there in his career and the last time was in 2021). What you might end up seeing however is Lombard Jr with a future IF spot. Volpe is still pre-Arbitration and making <$900K. He'll be Arbitration 1 Eligible next season - so the salary will still be moderate. I'm thinking that they's stay with him at least thru 2026 and then make a decision.

I don't like giving up on young guys too early - he's still only 24 and very good on D. Further - Jorbit is still hitting sub-.200 with less than a .300 OBP. Maybe pump the brakes a bit on making him the full time 2B until we see a lot more.

Volpe's salary would also make him an attractive trade piece if Cashman can upgrade at the deadline.

That occasional/rare times when he drives in a run is outweighed by the astronomical number of times he can't get a guy home from 3rd base with <2 outs. Nine guys LOB the other nite.
JMO.

In a trade that includes Volpe you are just getting a similar player, someone that a team just wants to move on.
Volpe is 4th on the team in RBI. I think Jazz is the bigger issue. Batting .181 but since he has power Cashman loves him.

I'm just tired of Volpe swinging at pitches that nearly hit him in the batter's box.

If you want to bet the Yankees on the run line tonight, you'll have to lay 3.5 runs.
When Fried pitches,it may be 4.5 runs.

The LA Dodgers have a stacked lineup and yet they are only .5 game for best record above the Yankees. The Tigers lead baseball.
Relax. Enjoy.
You can't have All Stars at every position.

Yanks with some real good acquisitions this past off-season in Fried, Goldschmidt, and Bellinger.
Oh...if only Cole hadn't gotten hurt.
The FA's are kicking ***. Fried was a guy that has been good for a while but I think many worried about his health and NYC...he is just taking to this city with no issues and on pace for a Cy Young - Goldie- guy has been a solid HOF in every aspect of the game and he was a great signing. CB - looks like Yankee stadium is a place he is going to shine.

Yanks- did a great job during the off season- one of the best.

They are trying to keep you up late and get your heart going so you can't go to sleep.
I hate the West Coast games.

Pretty sure Devin William's residency in NY will be rather short.
He got bailed out last nite...guy popped out to end the game on a 3-0 count with runners on 1st and 3rd. What an idiot move.

Games in April/May will be long forgotten. Re-signing him or not will likely come down to her performs down the stretch / in the playoffs and how much $$ he is looking for.

Agree, but his confidence must be pretty low right now.

Boone is giving him the best case scenario right now in low leverage situations.

I don't think its confidence more than its control on is fastball to set up his changeup. Before last night he had a pretty good run over a 12 appearance stretch which included several high leverage situations. Issue with Williams is that while he has a superior change-up, he needs to set it up with his fastball to keep batters honest - or they will just sit on his change.

So why so much hate directed at Cashman by so many?
Many Yankee fans get upset with Cashman's over-reliance on analytics. I also think many people just feel it's time for a change in leadership due to the product getting stale. I go back and forth on him. Right now, things are obviously going well so there's no reason to get rid of him.

Inevitable T2K quote coming......"Fire Cashman".....

It comes getting to and being competitive in the World Series.
Im thankful the didn't sign Soto as that would have been it. All the new additions are so much better than one player but that was more of the Steinbrenner family decision not Cashman

What Hal should say to Cashman (if he ever grows a set):
