I imagine the next time a lefty is brought in to face Harper the conversation between him and Thompson will go like this:

I'm putting in a right-handed batter to hit for you.
What? You're pinch-hitting for me?!
Yes. You see you're a left-hander
and so is the pitcher.

Harp is .385 vs righties and .179 vs lefties.
His career stats are about 20 points apart.
The injury may be affecting his swing against the portsiders, but his power is lacking vs all.
If that doesn't reverse -and Hoskins doesn't return-,it's tough to see how this team wins in the postseason without the longball.

He's only at 60 PA and 56 AB vs lefties this season. Need a larger sample to see if this is a trend or a slump.

My guess is that teams have picked something up. Now he'll have to show that he can adjust to their adjustment.

Cole vs Verlander tonight. Packed house.

This is why guys like Verlander and Lindor get paid the big bucks. Mets are on life support. They need to stop the bleeding desperately. These guys must step up.

It's as big a game as possible in June for the Mets tonight.
It's a big game for the Yankees, too. They lead for a wild-card by only a game and a half over the Angels and two games over the Blue Jays -- and the Angels have been getting hot.

Well it's a fluke but good for Mickey. He was always a decent guy.

Well Mickey is still producing and had a big HR last night. It’s a small sample, but his numbers would project to 50, 110 over a full season. His OPS is 1.028.

Moniak in 71 AB’s 6 HR. 14 RBI. 1.028 OPS
Turner in 286 AB’s. 7 HR 21 RBI .696 OPS

Again, great for him. Are you saying you'd trade Turner for him?

Also, isn't it fun to watch the Phillies when they hit the ball?

Pache showed what he can do at bat,on the bases, and in the field this weekend.
When Bryce can play first,Schwarber should be the road DH.

I still don't completely trust Pache to be a full time starter. While he's been better hitting this year he hasn't done it for an extended and significant amount of ABs in the past. Although if he just continues what he is doing that is probably good enough considering his plus defense and baserunning.

I agree that getting Schwarber out of LF is a priority though, he runs like I do when playing catch at a RU tailgate after 5 beers.

Good road trip for the club, need to take 2 out of 3 in the next 2 series to keep the momentum going.

So yesterday I realize I haven't looked at the standings for a while and the Phils just won 10-12 or so. I check and I see they're STILL EIGHT GAMES OUT??!! I hate Atlanta.

Just plant Schwarber at 1B and let Harper DH until he's ready for the OF. They have like 5 guys who can fill in at Left. Or hell move Casty to LF and let all the light hit good D guys play Right. But I think Casty is now playing a solid RF.

Unfortunately, Schwarber proved with the Red Sox that he is a terrible first baseman and that he is not willing to learn the position. I am hoping that Pache can continue to play the way he did this weekend so that Schwarber can be moved to DH when Harper is ready to play 1b. It says a lot for Harper -- and a lot against Schwarber -- that Harper is willing to learn to play first and Schwarber isn't.

Would be nice if we get a good Nola outing today. Heck I'd take it if he didn't give a HR for the 12th consecutive game.

What a great game! Mets and their fans ready to celebrate a rare win. And they let it slip away. Phillies had a great road trip before this series and get the series win. Some Mets fans, one in particular, think that the team pays the most should always win. He is on a 3 month diet of eating crow. He probably likes it though. He is a stupid man.
Phillies aren't catching Atlanta but they proved last year you don't have to. Just get in.

The season may be decided on those two trips to Miami in the next 5 weeks.
It looks as if 2 wild cards will come from the West.

9 straight on the road.
In 1984,they swept the West Coast, winning three each at LA,SF,and SD.
They would settle for 4-2 next week, one of the toughest trips by any team this season.
After the break, there is only one more long trip, one going to Milwaukee and SD.
Wild Card No.1 is the realistic goal as it could set up a NLCS vs the Braves.

JT with one of the most athletic plays by a catcher I've ever seen, can't believe how far down the line he got.

If we can make it to the playoffs and be able to narrow the rotation down to Wheeler, Nola, Suarez, Walker and bullpen down to Sanchez, Strahm, Soto, Dominguez, Alvarado and Kimbrel… look out.
