They should just go and sign his brother now. After his last playoff outing, I thought he would be gone. After this news, he probably retires as a Phillie.

Now that the SP problem is off the table we can enjoy the offseason of bull pen plugins, minor roster moves and the Mike Trout trade.

WhaWhaaaa??!!

LOL

Reports are they are still going to make a run at Yamamoto, but that is the only high end pitcher they will go after. Otherwise it will be depth pieces.

As for Trout, last I heard he is content with not playing for the Phillies just coming home in the off season for Eagles games and hunting in Cumberland County.

I wouldn't want Trout anyway. He's way too expensive for a guy who only plays half a year. The Phils can't afford him anyway.

I would expect they're done with big pieces.

Our bullpen seemed shakier in 2023 than it was in 2022. Alvarado is a year older, Dominguez has plateaued and maybe even regressed, and we can’t trust Soto in a big spot. Don’t want to lean too hard on Hoffmann and who knows with Kerkering. To me we need to sure up the bullpen. Our lineup and starting pitching is playoff quality; it’s the bullpen that makes or breaks us for a championship.

BP guys are on and off from year to year. Soto might be more reliable next year. Hoff is a keeper, Phils like Alvarado, Seranthony is due for a good year. He was lights out a couple of years ago. Kerk is the closer of the future.

Adding Hader pushes everyone forward one inning and would likely solve all BP problems. $10M/year?

I'm more concerned with this team's frame of mind when they arrive in Clearwater.
The front office went all in on last year and Thomson has twice promoted 13 wins or bust mentality in the postseason.
Will they respond as did the '63 Dodgers after their collapse in '62 and go on to win it all?Or the '70 Orioles after the Mets embarrassed them in '69,who went to spring training proclaiming themselves as "the best damn team in baseball" and went on to tear apart the Big Red Machine?

I’m not high on Hader but I’d def take him. Our biggest issue was the extreme downfall of Kimbrel.

Soto is interesting- I keep hearing his play in the outfield is pretty bad. Withing a couple of years- most likely full time DH. Does that really fit in with the Phils?
