Too bad that half of the Mets pitching staff doesn't bet on MLB!

Do you know the crazy story about Ed Kranepool’s call up?
He played a doubleheader the night before in Buffalo. He then played in a doubleheader against the Giants. The second game went 24 innings. The Mets pulled off a triple play on a liner to Roy Macmillan who then threw to Kranepool to complete the play. Gaylord Perry perfected his spitball in long relief. Of course the Mers lost.

So same division.

The equivalent of App State getting in trouble/blamed for something UNC did.

Guess he should have used an interpreter too.

Did MLB find its sacrificial goat?
Why is that the first things I thought too.
And I am not going out on a limb that over 50% of fans will think the same thing and makes the perception the SO may not be so clean.
He may be, and these guys may be guilty- but…looks like and quacks like lol

Sacrificial piece of meat. But he’s a dumb *** for putting himself into that position.

100% trying to appease everyone that they are serious about this gambling issue in MLB...Otherwise, how can they continue to profit so much on this gambling issue in MLB.

The current state of gambling- has me finally ok if the let Pete Rose in...

I remember when uninformed/ naive posters were acting like sports gambling by young bros was not dangerous. Since it was legalized NJ has one of the worst epidemics of gambling abuse. At least in the " older days" you had to find a bookie. head to the track and weren't inodated by ads on TV. Just like those on here who believe they've " experts" in basketball , etc those addicted to sports betting fall into the same trap. I love casinos and had relatives in the business but try to always avoid sports betting.

Sports betting as the gateway to online casino betting is the bigger issue. All of the online sports books are making that bridge very easy.

What makes matters worse is that TikTok and other short video social media platforms are inundated with videos of bros hitting a $50 ten leg parlay to make $25,000.

This perpetually pulls in young kids to make long shot bets that lose 99.5% of the time. I read a report that said that 90% of NJ sports book revenue came from multi leg parlays. Only 10% came from straight bets.

That kid that just got banned for life from MLB- everyone has seen his betting history. 330k+ in bets and a 4% win rate...And everyone is saying how bad he was at it-I would bet that if you track these people gambling with all the parlays, 4% may be about average.

I don't think I have ever bet on a sports game since my Dad used to come home with those $1 football slips back in the 70's. lol I would much rather stick to blackjack and craps...

The hammer is coming down on MLB players!!!....unless your name is Shohei Ohtani.
Honest question...what should Ohtani be punished for? His translator is going to spend a lot of time in jail, and people are still stuck on this conspiracy theory that it had to be Ohtani that was placing the bets, and his translator will just willingly give away his life to cover for him? And that the MLB should ignore what the IRS/DOJ/etc found and suspend him just because some buy into the conspiracy theory?

I'm really confused by that line of thinking...

I hear what you are saying and what you say makes sense. But I am a bit cynical which leads to my skepticism. Maybe I'll wait and see how much time the interpreter actually spends behind bars. I'm also curious to know how much investigation occurred before these other players were banned versus the due process Ohtani was afforded. Was there a difference?
