Why is it his responsibility to send players to Rutgers?

I hate this "need to be loyal" stuff.
It's the Rutgers HC responsibility to make the program enticing to recruits - not hope to be bailed out by HS coaches of elite recruits (see the current state of the football program. Results improve recruiting - not a zip code).

You think Ace Bailey's HS coach is sort of Rutgers homer? Doubt it. HC Pike built the program with what he could and made it a destination for recruits from any state.

Do you think if we were bottom of the Big Ten still, Gavin is coming here? No way - no matter how close the family ties are.
This is true. Gary waters did rutgers no favors here by not bringing back Danny

Just by accident, more of his players could have played ball in Piscataway. Hurley coached for a long time. Probably we can count on one hand the number of St. Anthony players that wore a Rutgers uniform. I’d love to hear the number of Div-1 players from Hurley’s teams, then the number that wore Rutgers uniforms.
Why would St. Anthony players have come to RU during his time there? RU was lucky to get the few players they did. Recruiting is about winning. Rutgers wasn't doing too much of that.

So people are upset a NJ sports reporter is writing about the national championship in college basketball that includes a coach who grew up in NJ and played HS and college ball in NJ?

No fan of the Hurleys but you have to respect their accomplishments

I hate UConn but I’ve been rooting for SDSU anyway just to hush the clowns who preach that defense first teams can’t be successful on the big stage.
Defense first teama are few at the highest level of competition because the game has changed with the shot clock and the 3 pointer.UConn has the right combination of stifling defense and a high power offense with shooters at every position. In a one game match up for a National Championship anything can happen .

UConn is a well rounded team. That’s not relevant to the message that’s been displayed by SDSU’s success.

SDSU proving Metrics right?
Maybe Mountain West was pretty good after all because of them?

SDSU was always legit. 6 total losses - and they played a tough non-conference. That doesn’t make the bottom of their conference any better though nor does it justify an 11 loss Nevada team getting selected for the field.
