Nice accomplishment for him. He's an excellent columnist, even if he takes the occasional shot at RU (usually deserved). I also never saw an earlier thread on this.
Never trust a profession that is compelled to give its own members awards.

Politi takes a lot of flack on here and I don’t love every one of his articles but the Rant is entertaining and he’s written a few amazing articles about RU through the years.
The following one is my favorite and should be bumped periodically in my opinion:

Politi is an excellent columnist and is funny as hell on the Rutgers Rant podcast. Kudos to him.
I believe it appeared in a post by Fat Koko on March 6 of this year, but it was buried a little under other NJ.com awards. Wasn’t sure how to link it, but since Plum was being a dick about it and trying to stir the pot off the other thread, I figured I would respond. Done with it now.

Politi’s stories on the kid from Montclair at jets practice and the night at legrand’s were pretty f$cking good. If you don’t tear up during one of those , something is wrong with you.
He has also written a lot of crap .
I don't think he hates Rutgers, he just doesn't sugarcoat things as much as some fans would like.

Yeah he has some really good articles that aren’t about Rutgers. I wanted to point out that he has written some very inspiring Rutgers pieces too - the one I linked is on the top of the list. That article really promotes the long term potential of the RU fan base should we ever become good.
Plenty of duds too for sure. But what journalist doesn’t have those?

Not sure how it works today, but the sports editor writes the headlines. Maybe that has changed with cuts.
I loosely knew the guy who was the sports editor at the Star Ledger. Really nice guy. I never asked him if he handled the Rutgers headlines. He got laid off several years ago.
Pete's just doing whatever he hears Michael Kay say. Guy is obsessed with being Numbah Two.

I was a fan of him until the softball debacle. He revealed himself to be unable to take any criticism and let his emotions drive his response. He apologized, but I think we’d had enough star ledger take downs of our athletic department.
Also, made me love Hobbs even more. Finally, an AD who sticks up for himself and the school, and fights back rather than curls up in the fetal position and takes an undeserved beating.
For what its worth, I don't think you're an idiot. That being said, I'm hoping that you do realize that being right/wrong or even some type of self-proclaimed forum legend prognosticator is not mutually exclusive from acting in a way that rubs people the wrong way.
