Baby Boomers = Worst Generation Ever
Started way back n the mid 60’s … now the whiners Gen X , Milllenials and Gen Z all cry foul. Get over it … Loved seeing that Senior Freeze check today and can’t wait until the senior property tax check gets here this fall. Attention Whiner Generation you all have a great opportunity to find a way to financial stability during your lifetime. Stop blaming Boomers… some of us will be here as long as you. The bitching and moaning does you absolutely no good. I guess you don’t have any senior citizens in your immediate family? If you do tell them how they suck as as far as generations go.I’m sure they’ll appreciate your love.

Most SS costs are for the retirement benefits. Easy to opt out of those and use general tax revenue to support the other SS programs.
Retired workers and their dependents accounted for 77.8% of total benefits paid in 2023. What would the general tax revenue amount be every year to support the other SS programs?
Social Security: In 2023, 21 percent of the budget, or $1.4 trillion, will be paid for Social Security, which will provide monthly retirement benefits averaging $1,836 to 48.6 million retired workers.
The numbers are beyond staggering.

1. I too am in my 70s.
2. The people we are talking about are far, far from normal. They have no use for facts.
So why waste your time on them if you think that's true? Are you planning to live forever?

Have more kids and teach them to respect having a job so you can be on easy street… not that you aren’t already. And please if your parents are still living ask them if they feel guilty about their SS?

Your Math skills are non-existent.
183 school days, 365 days in a year
So almost exactly one half the days in the year.
Why would I base it on 365 days? Do other employees work weekends? I know I'm just a stupid math teacher, but I'm almost certain thry don't.

Know many Gen X kids… have 2 of my own 52 and 48 plus numerous others . I don’t think most blame their Boomer or Silent generation parent/ parents. But the narrative of evil - worthless Boomers is simply jealous chit chat. The government pisses away too much and spends way too much. Stop paying out to worthless foreign countries and NOBODY will have to whine about those Boomers.

I've been taking on the knuckleheads as long as I can remember.

Here’s the problem…

You think “they” are knuckleheads. They think you and others whom they believe think like you are knuckleheads. And all of you have been taking on the knuckleheads for as long as all of you can remember.

But look around. We have the two most unfit candidates for president in the history of the nation. Neither one should be anywhere near the White House.

So all this taking on of knuckleheads? It’s clearly not working. Y’all need to find another way.

Perhaps because I am in my 70s, I consider life too short to deal with such posters. Responding to them does not convince them or anyone else of the errors of their ways, so why bother? Indeed responding to them is counterproductive because it only serves to prolong the conversation and give them a chance to reiterate their views. And an exchange in which both sides use an extreme tone serves only to normalize their tone.

If you absolutely cannot bear from responding, try to confine yourself to calmly pointing out where they are factually in error, and cite sources that any normal person should respect. Remind them of Senator Moynihan's wise statement, "you're entitled to your own opinions -- but not to your own facts."

In the history of the world, I don't think anyone looks back and says "Gee, good thing I ignored those people threatening mass deportation camps/terminating the Constitution/forcing religion in public schools!" so I am OK saying something. It costs me literally nothing and their arguments are so moronic it doesn't even cost any brain power. And it's a good reminder to everyone else what the stakes are, because not everyone can afford a trip to Europe and see what a concentration camp looked like. If they could, we probably wouldn't have to have this discussion.

Unfortunately your responses to them are often not very good. See my comment above.

I hope you realize that your response is irrelevant to his comment.

No...not if you know who he is.

But if there was a vote of me versus the 2 clowns (who btw are so hated I don't even have to name them) it wouldn't even be close about who is more appreciated. He needs them to keep the gravy train going. I don't.

I'm not really interested in whether or not taking on the knuckleheads is "working". I'm just interested in taking them on when they say water isn't wet or the sky isn't blue. I'm interested in how it would make me feel about myself if I don't speak up against their bull. I've always been that way. I'm proud of it too.

I would say pointing out that people who claim they are winning and going to implement the "unified reich" but who last won something when Chris Ash was HC is pretty funny. It's not for everyone, I guess.

And it's certainly better than letting it pass and letting people- especially recruits and their families- think that their bigotry passes for a majority take in this community when it's nowhere close.

I've been thanked in private messages and in person- including by self declared conservatives- for saying what I say and pointing out what I do.

The knuckleheads as you generously call them are deeply unpopular.

Did they teach you what an ad hominem argument is or why is it ineffective? Evidently not.

Who cares whether it's funny? Your kind of argument does nothing but help the people you oppose. You're a lawyer -- why don't you understand how to argue effectively?

This is a message board, not a courtroom. And it's actually quite effective, and I have been told as much.

Who is telling you that silence is effective?

Pointing out people are paid to comment here is quite effective. It has pushed a lot of the paid commenters away. We're down to 2 by my count, though one of them has about 6 handles.

He doesn't care. He has a cookie cutter stereotype he applies to any and all who disagree with him. The response then isn't even close to meeting a "horse shoes and hand grenades" standard.

Your comment that I was more hated was oh so effective lol.

Does anyone who doesn't pay money to talk about who wears what at ShopRite believe it?

Again, as effective as your braggadocio last year that blew up. Looks like it's about to happen again.

Just came back to this thread to try and find out if there was any new info on the StayNJ legislation. And this is what I was subjected to. What a mess this board has become - shameful.

See @mildone's comment above; he makes the point better than I have. I respectfully disagree with anyone who thinks that your blend of insults and overstatements is "effective." Over and out.

Nope SS sucks but there is something to be said for trying to care for older people.
Well , let’s hope you never see that OLD age you and other geniuses on this board detest so much. Praying now that you’ll someday have my grandchildren tell your generation of fools , “ what goes around comes around. “

But up until 3 months ago, Fancy Nancy Pelosi said Joe Biden was The Perfect President and 1/2 the country lapped that statement up, just saying. 😁Now in the name of "saving democracy" those same Democrats are trying to strip Biden of all the delegates he earned legally from the "people's vote". Not because they fear he isn't capable, they've know that for 3+ years, but because they fear the down ballot. Saving democracy my as$.

Not sure why you quoted me since your post has nothing at all to do with my post. Although, your post does illustrate the point I wanted to make. Everybody that clings to both sides has a “but” and a “just saying”. Total waste of time.

Anyway, I don’t support Pelosi, Biden, Trump or any other politician from either side. I vote for the least bad candidate and leave the undignified sycophantic worship to others.

The poor baby boomers. They had it so hard. Guess you are all for social security too.
Yes. We worked our asses off. We saved. With the promise of social security.

Social security taxes only taxes up to about $170K in earnings. How about taxing earnings up to $20M? Or $100M. Or more? Why should only the low incomes pay for it? Have the wealthy contribute too. They benefit from older people being able to have a decent end of life?

Why not tax the richest part of the population as much as the poorest population?

That would fully fund the program.
