He cancelled his tour around this time last year due to illness. I got to see him in Key West this past February, then he did another show or 2 before going back to the hospital. I never knew what his illness was but I'd assume cancer since he's been battling for at least a year. RIP to a great entertainer.... And yes, average musician but a pretty good songwriter.

My senior year we had four guys in a 4 bedroom apartment. One of the guys had a BIG DATE on a Saturday night. He spent all day Friday cleaning the bathroom, kitchen and living room.

The trophy girlfriend shows up and they are hanging with beers on the LR couch. All according to plan, so far. About a half hour in, my roommate, who I still keep in contact with, starts the turntable with "Why Don't We Get Drunk." Last time we all saw the girl. I will never forget it.

RIP. Summer always meant Buffet at the Garden State Arts Center. I met him in Hong Kong. He yelled at me for interrupting his dinner.
Scott Ian from Anthrax had a podcast called never meet your heroes. My interactions with musicians I have been a fan of fit that podcast name, and I did not interrupt anybody's meal. Buffet seemed like a very happy guy, but everyone has their moments.

I apologized and he said "that's okay. I was just hungry".
Somehow this guy got Buffet to come to HK and do a concert in a gym. Jimmy wanted to sell his tequila at the show, but they told him he needed a license, so he just made it free. Hung out at his show by the drinks table and made margueritas. Great time.

Fun fact, Elvis was offered the chance to record Margaritaville first. Jimmy probably thanked his lucky stars that never transpired.

Hah, had Steve Tyler interrupt our dinner once in Bermuda while on our honeymoon lol. He had shown up without a tie and they made him put one on.

I had a light colored tie. He said that guys isn’t wearing one. He was behind me, had no idea who it was. So I turned around and showed my tie and said maybe say it a little louder.

Then I realized who it was. He laughed, we chatted for a few seconds and then back to our respective dinners.

The next couple in was seated next to them and the girl totally lost it. Not cool.

RIP jimmy

I never got him - sang pretty much typical country songs about alcohol and getting knackered.
Reminded me of a singer in a divorcee bar.
Yep. Not a fan.
Sad that he's gone....but never enjoyed his tune.
Actually ate at one of his places in the Montego Bay airport. The food wasn't bad.

Hard to describe my sadness over his passing. Time to waste away in Margaritaville.

Bob Dylan called him one of America’s greatest songwriters.

His best works are arguably his most obscure songs that aren’t too mainstream.

the truth
Jimmy Buffett was diagnosed with skin cancer in 2019, which eventually developed into lymphoma.

Facing the Battle From Skin Cancer to Lymphoma

Jimmy Buffett’s diagnosis in 2019 revealed skin cancer. Over time, this escalated to lymphoma. What’s deeply touching is Buffett’s decision to keep this battle largely private, sharing only snippets with the media. His approach towards the ailment was optimistic, revealed in a 2021 interview where he mentioned he was ā€œdoing wellā€ and living ā€œone day at a time.ā€
