I don't remember ever being asked for my vaccination records when I attended college. It's not like you need those vaccines which you mentioned every year. They're pretty much a one and done deal. You don't get dis-enrolled for not having the Flu shot and that's just as dangerous as Covid for kids of college age.

Point taken.

With the exception of the last one - Covid is more dangerous than influenza for anyone of any age. The data bears that out pretty clearly.

That said, I'm not 100% in favor of Covid vaccine mandates at this point, since the vax is available to everyone. Unvaccinated people introduce some additional risk, even to vaccinated people, but it's pretty small, I think.

If there are no other vaccines required then I could see having an issue with a Covid vax requirement.

If, on the other hand, there are a battery of required vaccines, similar to the requirements for primary schools, then I don't see the issue. In other words, if you have to be vaccinated against Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Diphtheria then there's really no fuss about having to be vaccinated against Covid.

And it's an honest question because I have absolutely no recollection as to whether there were any vaccine requirements when I enrolled at RU 40 years ago.
If the MMR vaccine and the Covid jab were even in the same galaxy as far as safety and effectiveness goes, you might have a point.

Anyone asking a healthy young person in their care to subject themselves to the risks associated with the jab should have their head examined in my opinion.

Would these be lots of young people taking tons of party drugs, adderall/psychiatric drugs and/or steroids?

GOR, this isnt really a relevant question.
- Yes, the earth has been hotter before. This is known.
- Yes, CO2 concentrations have been higher before. This is known.

But we werent on the planet then. As George Carlin said, the planet will be fine. We won’t.

We have established pretty much every aspect of our society and economy on the assumption that the planet is mostly static and changes very slowly. We've broken that assumption. As noted in the article, the coral reefs play an important role in the Florida economy and in mitigating the impact of hurricanes. But extending that... we have put our cities and commerical centers close to the water. we have placed our food systems in places that get adequate rain and sun. Physical risks from climate change are going to get increasingly expensive.
Oh? Do you know about the great coral dieoff during the great middle ages warm period? What about the dust bowl period of 1930-1936?

You don't?

Nor does anyone else because no one was looking at such things and tracking them.

The Hunter Biden stuff is being covered. You could easily Google Hunter Biden NYT. Would be better than spouting AM radio talking points.
Baloney.

Are you saying the NOW that the NYT would prefer anyone other than Joe Biden get teh DNC nomination they have suddenly decided the Hunter story is important? That's some BS you are trying to feed this thread.

They lead the way in most trends in the MSM. NYT or WAPO publishes something and everyone on JournoList and its successors and the MSM follow. And when the NYPost broke the Hunter laptop story in 2020 they used their great standards of reporting to cancel the NYPost and call teh story lies.. the same way they used their journalistic integrity and standards to sell the Russia Hoax.

You useful idiots always amaze me. I mean, I get why the professional propagandists spread their nonsense. But why so many lap it all up and tell everyone how good it is... amazes me. The left is trying hard to bring about a single-party totalitarian state here and you are all helping them while cheering for yourselves as being great human beings. It is stunning.

"single-party totalitarian state"????????
Check the GOP voter suppression laws and you'll realize those fascists are doing their best to be like the USSR, Nazi Germany and Commie China along with other totalitarian stated like Russia is today.

Useful idiots believe cable news networks and their lying commentators, even after finding out the information they received from them were lies.
It's a case of fiction they want to believe taking precedence over true facts .
But what can be expected from those foolish people, they were told to believe the lies their fearless leader told them weren't really lies, but alternative facts.
They believed that conniving con man so much they turned into traitors and tried to overthrow democracy on January 6th, 2021 based on his lie

Don’t take this the wrong way but you should probably go for a walk.

It’s nice out and that’s better for you than having your blood pressure rise over a message board post.

Adding facts into this discussion won't rsise my blood pressure, it actually makes me feel great to be able to inform other board member the facts surrounding the many issues being discussed in this thread.

But thank you your interest and advice.
I'm glad to see you particapating in this thread , every post you and I put in this thread helps keeps it alive

GOP voter suppression laws.. wow.. you are so far gone.

Voter ID.. is that voter suppression?

Wow. Fascists? Nazi Germany? You are the guys are fielding the "Brown Shirts".. they wear black and masks and call themselves Anti-Fa.. but make no mistake.. those are the modern-day brownshirts and then you have the Nazi stormtroopers.. the FBI when they are doing political hit jobs. You guys even have big business behind you just like Hitler did. You guys are the fascists and don't even see it.

Your January 6th fantasy is beyond bizarre but you guys have to insist it was an "insurrection" and an attempt to end democracy. All done without weapons. Amazingly good planning by those insurrectionists.. and they have the cooperation of the Capitol and DC police.. AMAZING that they did not actually pull it off. I suppose if not for the bravery on the one Capitol policeman who fired his weapon and killed a defenseless veteran.. I suppose they had a real chance.

Remember how they broke down the doors of the House chamber? No, neither do I because the half-naked Shaman was escorted in like the cops were tour guides. That's some insurrection!

And you are bringing "facts"... thanks for the laugh.

Not sure I am remembering this exactly.. but pre-CoVId and probably in the 2000s or 2010s... I recall some story about some affliction spreading in college and it was surmised that there were a lot on unvaccinated children who had become college age and now that was causing outbreaks rather than an isolated case here or there.

Cannot quite remember what it was.. or how many diseases were involved... but maybe there was a reaction that included finding out what students were fully vaccinated BEFORE CoVid came around.

Its kind of amazing what the DC mafia can get away with.
They fought to deny SCOTUS justices added security after the "anti-facists" camped ouside their homes for weeks.
Now they are denying RFK Jr's request for Secret Service protection.
He gets constant threats online and has had people invade his home.
I heard him describe how Carter and Ted Kennedy hated each other but Carter still gave him requested SS protection despite low polls.

Don't bother. Trump has them so befuddled that they believe black is white and white is black, Trump is honest and everyone else is dishonest, mobs attacking the Capitol are protesting "peacefully," trying to steal an election is merely "free speech." It's the kind of lunacy you see with fascism. Hopefully the voters put it down again soon. It's evil.

Not to mention the near assassination of Justice Kavanaugh. I guess if you can't pack the court you have to create vacancies.

As opposed to a right wing mob screaming for the heads of literally everyone in government and threatening to hang them. Or right wing nuts trying to kidnap the governor of Michigan? What partisan cuckoo land do you live in?

But these guys are still doing gymnastics to defend what happened on 1/6.

Yeah. "Oops" Chuck "Whirlwind" Schumer.

You guys ever going to offer anything new - or are you just going to repeat the same stuff over and over and over and over and over again.

And if you noticed how the republicans did in midterms, you'd realize he was correct. Forcing women to have babies isnt good politics. (And he expressed regret for his remarks)

These guys aren’t conservatives and it’s unfair to actual conservatives to lump them in (I’ve made that mistake too). There’s nothing conservative about the GOP in its current form.

First, that Tucker-RFK Jr. interview was great. But if you have not seen the shorter interview with Ramaswamy... watch it.. don't agree 100% re: taiwan.. but at least he is talking about it with real thought...

I think teh difference is that Carter was in the Navy. He understood responsibility and loyalty to America. He was not a good President, but he and those who got him elected wanted the best for the nation and honored its past.

That is not the case today. Those who support the dream of the Founders of this nation and the Consitution they wrote to CREATE the modern democratic republic we have inherited... those traditionalists.. and some of them are liberal like RFK Jr... they.. WE.. are fighting against those who seek to destroy its history so they can remake it in their socialist/marxist image.. so power and wealth goes to the politically connected and their families and friends and everyone else works for them and no one can become a wealthy American without their blessing... they retain the power to make or break anyone.

And their political seats are only in jeopardy from their own kind.. but they will be good little totalitarian tools and reap the benefits because it beats having to work hard and create wealth by creating things or providing services according to market demand. The political class will decide what is in demand.. you know.. for our one best interests... like EV cars or ZERO cars and more Big Gulps and so on. They know best.

Are you talking about the Whitmer kidnapping plot, where nine guys have pleaded guilty or been found guilty, and two were acquitted? It was even on Fox News: https://www.foxnews.com/us/michigan-gov-whitmer-kidnapping-plot-co-leader-16-years-prison

Somehow they missed this. Maybe they have so much sympathy for the conspiracists that they can't bear to see them sent to jail and try to ignore it. Fellow right wing travelers.
And the erecting of the gallows on Jan. 6th and the "Hang Mike Pence" chanting and the shitting all over the Capital were just illusions.

Dr Li-Ming Yan - virologist defector (worked at Wuhan) did a podcast recently (she had to lay low for awhile since DC mafia allowed a hostile husband into the US despite an order of protection against him) and she said the newly discovered CA bio-weapon cache near military. The installation had a lot of bad stuff with expensive equipment but the operation was made to look sloppy so that anything getting out of there could be blamed on US since it was in US. She can be hard to understand but everything she said in the past (and got censored for) was correct.

This has been widely refuted in the scientific community. She is supported and promoted by Steve Bannon.

This from MIT Rapid Reviews: "Given the far-reaching implications of the "Yan Report," RR:C19 sought out peer reviews from world-renowned experts in virology, molecular biology, structural biology, computational biology, vaccine development, and medicine. Collectively, reviewers have debunked the authors' claims that: (1) bat coronaviruses ZC45 or ZXC21 were used as a background strain to engineer SARS-CoV-2, (2) the presence of restriction sites flanking the RBD suggest prior screening for a virus targeting the human ACE2 receptor, and (3) the furin-like cleavage site is unnatural and provides evidence of engineering. In all three cases, the reviewers provide counter-arguments based on peer-reviewed literature and long-established foundational knowledge that directly refute the claims put forth by Yan et al. There was a general consensus that the study's claims were better explained by potential political motivations rather than scientific integrity. The peer reviewers arrived at these common opinions independently, further strengthening the credibility of the peer reviews.[5]"

Well I wish I could say I was still respectful of "the scientific community" but their level of corruption is very high. Bogus studies are plentiful, and CCP money flows to every corner. When Yan first emerged and said the virus was from a lab she was set upon by the hive quite vigorously. When the "fact-checkers" go into overdrive its a good bet the subject said something true.

"There is an epidemic of self-censorship at U.S. universities on the subject of China, one that limits debate and funnels students and academics away from topics likely to offend the Chinese Communist Party...This weakens not only their scholarship and integrity, but also their negotiating power with Beijing over issues such as access for research, conferences and other academic collaborations, and joint programs between American and Chinese institutions."
