I did sell some SBUX this afternoon since I didn’t realize I had shares in my other brokerage account. I sold some other stocks that had some nice profit but expect to buy them again tomorrow when they fall. It‘s a game going back and forth.

I was going to go to the casino but I guess I can get my entertainment in the market.
I sold a few positions this morning and did miss some upside but can’t get too greedy. I think people are underestimating the Zelelenskyy speech. If peace talks were going well why would he press Congress so hard for no fly zone or more jets. If the World agrees and does either or both it will likely lead to escalation. If the World does nothing in response the Ukraine will fall eventually and commodities become huge issue.

I would wait on any buying until the Fed announces the rate increase and gauge the market reaction.
True. I actually feel the market could react positive to whatever Powell says especially if he is hawkish, which goes against this put buying.

Talking crumbs here though on these trades. Risking a little but hoping for a significant short term move.

I have no faith in these peace talks. Putin is not going to walk away empty handed and Ukraine is not going to give in.

His economy is collapsing and perhaps running out of money. Recognize Crimea, let those 2 other regions vote on independence. Something like that.....and call it a day.

LMT down a bunch off news the Pentagon is requesting less Jets. That is unexpected news.

All my defense stocks down today. My oil plays too. The buffered my downswing last week, an anchor on my upwsing this week.
That's the thing with riding momentum and why I'm not usually one to hop on. If you're already in or very early in a big somewhat unexpected or expected move well that's great but if you're not it's possible you may have missed the boat and are late and could take a brunt of a selloff after.

Considering the moves both have had, it's somewhat logical at the very least they take a break and consolidate.

You are right but remember Putin doesn’t care. I just bought some LMT. I’m sure I’ll get crushed if peace talks are legit but as long as Putin is still alive this thing ain’t over.

Well I do think the world has changed some after this invasion. Complacency kind of goes away, especially if Putin stays in power, whether they come to some agreement or not. I mean if Putin stays in power are sanctions going to be fully lifted. I'm doubtful.

So I think the defense names could be fine regardless of peace because just the world view has changed. But may need to blow off some of the ride up and maybe consolidate. I think 380-390s area where it broke out from and might retrace to could be support. Longer term support line is around 340s-350s as well. Not saying it will go to these areas but if there is any pullback those are places I'd look at.

Ya, I've been in all my defense for a bit.

SLB and KMI are more recent buys.

Sticking with the whole group.

Not for me but I do like your idea of buying puts of these crazy momentum stocks that have had big bounces. I don't know how long the bounce will last but I think the idea that it will wear off and come down seems reasonable to me.

MU got an upgrade from Bernstein to outperform from market perform PT 94 just as a FYI
Just a correction. I could’ve sworn I read market perform this morning but Halftime mentioned it was a double upgrade for MU from Bernstein. So it must’ve been underperform to outperform.

Yea, it went to outperform. Slowly becoming one of my larger positions. Grabbed some at $70 this week but should have bought more.

How about everyone stops listening to that wacko Bullard. He just go b-slapped with the rate vote. 8-1 vote for a 0.25% hike. Bullard was the only vote for higher. Perhaps no more interviews with Mr. Irrelevant? :)

Its just about over:

Ukraine and Russia explore neutrality plan in peace talk

"Ukraine and Russia have made significant progress on a tentative 15-point peace plan including a ceasefire and Russian withdrawal if Kyiv declares neutrality and accepts limits on its armed forces, according to three people involved in the talks.

The proposed deal, which Ukrainian and Russian negotiators discussed in full for the first time on Tuesday, would involve Kyiv renouncing its ambitions to join Nato and promising not to host foreign military bases or weaponry in exchange for protection from allies such as the US, UK and Turkey, the people said.

Ukraine and Russia claimed to be making significant progress in settlement talks on Wednesday, with Moscow saying there was “hope for reaching a compromise.”

Sergei Lavrov, Russia’s foreign minister, said that “absolutely specific wordings” were “close to being agreed” in negotiations with Ukraine, including security guarantees for Moscow and neutrality for Kyiv. The Kremlin said options for Ukraine modelled on Austria and Sweden were under discussion.

Lavrov’s assessment is the most upbeat yet delivered by a senior Russian figure, and came after Ukrainian president Zelensky said talks with Moscow aimed at ending the war were beginning to “sound more realistic.”

Hope it’s true but seems inconsistent with Zelensky speech and emotional video.

He's always shrill and dire with heavy guilt trips
Nuke experts slammed him for calling staged Russian nuke strike "10X worse than Chernobyl"
Remember Zelenske arrested his political opponent last Dec - he's not a "freedom fighter"
Ukraine is one of top 5 most corrupt nations (and where US pols get grift in exchange for "influence")
I found his encouragement to have Ukraine hang-in and get flattened pretty irresponsible.
He seemed to enjoy playing the martyr a bit too much
He's closer to a Greta or Bono than a Mandela or Walesa

The part about Ukraine being a "democracy" and not a democracy is spot on. Russia is also a "democracy".

Ukraine is a mess under peacetime let alone a war. It's THE most corrupt country in Europe which is why it also happens to be the poorest when there is no reason for it to be. The EU is giving lip service to them now to show unity against Russia but the ECB must be ready to s*** itself at the thought of integrating Ukraine into the Eurozone without a massive (and I mean MASSIVE) shift in internal politics. They make Greece look like a AAA rate bond.

Still, none of this justifies an illegal invasion. But if Ukraine truly wants to prosper it's going to have to kick Zelensky to the curb an enact actual reform along the lines of countries like Slovenia, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic. In 2014 they installed the Chocolate King of Odesa as their savior for crying out loud.

One of the few worth listening to

Ukraine looks like they are making a big defensive stand because Putin isn't trying to really crush the nation and was being more strategic. Now Russians have Ukraine forces boxed in and could just annihilate them like ducks in a pond. Fancy speeches wont save lives

Wondered if there might be a sell the news on the hike and especially with the news of 6 more hikes likely coming. I think the BAC analyst was the first I saw mention 7 hikes awhile back, spot on by her if it comes to fruition. If no sell off today, wonder if there will be at least some give back tomorrow given how strong the rally has been the last couple days.

edit: I wasn't watching this afternoon, seeing Fast Money now and it looks like it did sell off on the news but then rebounded on Powell's remarks after. I'm not sure what he said though.

I don't think shrill is accurate, I think he's been the exact opposite really. I also think given that his country has been invaded by a foreign power which is currently bombing the heck out of his citizenry, a dire reaction is pretty appropriate.

The fact that he made silly tik tok videos has no bearing on my opinion as to how he has handled this since the invasion. He, like Mayor's all across his country have stood up to Russia. Kudo's to them.

Im still new to it. Had some good trades last week. This week I pulled one off for a one day 80%, but I think I'm down 50% of PDD which I'm still in. Need that to tank tomorrow.

But they are very small trades at this point, still trying to see if it will pay off on a consistent basis.

Or that is where he is getting his information.

My buddy is apparently on the same algorithm.
Much of his information is coming from Fox News. I saw Col MacGregor on Fox and basically said that Ukraine should have surrendered to save lives. If that’s the case Russia can go from one country to another and they would all surrender. Yet, I know Ashokan called France cowards for surrendering in WWII.

It has something to do with siding with Trump. We’ll have a chance to surrender to Russia if Trump is elected in 2024. Maybe it’s to get the American people ready for 2024.

He said the Fed is sticking to the plan - 0.25% hikes only, no surprises. KABOOM! The market is like a young child. Good news or bad news is irrelevant. The market was irrationally scared that the Fed may do more than expected and braced for the worst case scenario. So, when it didn't happen and Papa Powell explained it to them the market became happy.

Has possibly hit A bottom, not necessarily THE bottom, and could rally and meet the 150 DMA which is still sloped downward quite steeply. AFRM and SOFI got a little love too.

Not names for me, except maybe a flyer on SOFI some day lol but for those who are in those names at least some positive comments.

Great product for short term directional bet. YTD is down 43% 😱.
That's why I started buying it after the QQQ tanked. Same with UPRO. Well in the green with both. I may keep UPRO very long term. TQQQ is a little wild. Once it hits a new ATH, I will assess.

Like in January, February or March. It’s been tanking for a while so you need to specify. You must be taking my advise and trading it short term. Because it hit 52 week low on Monday.

Really? The GrayZone? Whoever doesn't know who they are should just read this link. A far-left site that is pro authoritarian regimes, denies the Ughurs genocide in China. Very strange site.
