OT: Tennis Big 3 Finally Done?

Could be. Nadal is 38 and coming off major hip surgery in addition to his long injury history. Zverev took care of him easily in the first round. Djokovic may have a chance to still win, but it really depends on how serious the injury is and what's his will to return? The guy has nothing to prove.

Thanks for starting. I was going to start a French Open thread, but then got too busy with work and watching the tournament. I love being able to turn on Tennis Channel first thing in the AM and the matches are already on.

I think the Big 3 is finally over. Djoker could pull a surprise down the line but these kids are finally hitting their strides. Look for Alcaraz & Sinner to dominate the next 10 years.

3) Rafa

As time goes by and we see more old clips, "classy" Fed wasn't as classy as we thought at the time. But he's still great. I saw he's picking up golf now and has a nice swing. I also appreciate Rafa more now than when he was in his prime. Still primarily a clay court specialist. Djoker is the GOAT since he pretty much now has all the records on all the surfaces.

At this point just don't see Djokovic beating Alcaraz or Sinner in a major. I hope Novak gives it one last run, but this injury just sets him back that much further. The Sinner Alcaraz match tomorrow should be great.

Agreed. Just getting to a semi's would be great for him now. Old man time has caught up. I watch a lot of tennis and you could see this happening since the US Open. Djoker is always motivated and trains better than most, so you never know. Could be one more surprise down the road (Wimbledon or Australia would be my bets).

Swiatek - Gauff on now. Should be a great match.

As for GOAT, head says Joker, heart still says Federer. I just wish their primes matched up a little more. That would have been truly special.

Will be interesting to see if we get a bunch of good players all winning a few majors instead of being dominate. That's the norm in tennis until the Big 3 came along.

When you think about it, how lucky are we tennis fans to have witnessed the most impressive era in men’s tennis we’ll likely ever see. Any of Djokovic, Federer, & Nadal without the other 2 would likely have racked up 30-35+ majors. It’s just insane. I have come to the conclusion (begrudgingly) that Novak is the GOAT. Federer gets #2 for being the guy who elevated the game so Rafa & Novak could run with it. Imagine being a guy like Andy Murray, who if he played in any other era probably has 10+ major titles.

Swiatek dominating Gauff early, already up 2 breaks in the first. Swiatek on clay is just too much to ask I think….incredible that Osaka had the match on her racket in the 2nd round…watch out for her at Wimbledon and the US Open.

Love the French & Wimbledon — tennis already on when you wake up in the morning.

I've been around long enough to remember the days of McEnroe, Connors, Agassi, Sampras etc. Are there any American men at all that figure to factor in at the top level of the sport anytime soon?

Taylor Fritz is on the cusp. He won Indian Wells last year over Nadal. He’s not Alcaraz or Sinner but he can steal one at some point.
