Interesting fit here - Judge Dredd isn’t really what I would consider Waititi’s wheelhouse, but this could work. He took a stoic, humorless hero in Thor and made one of the best Marvel movies to date (Ragnarok). Casting is important here; Urban’s version worked because they laser focused the characters and settings.

I implore everyone to watch Amazon Video's attempt to tackle War of the Worlds.

It is a MUST SEE.

It's easily the worst movie I've ever seen. I can't even imagine this getting greenlit. Ice Cube is so horribly miscast as the uber-computer nerd who will save the world.

No description of how bad it is will do it justice. You must watch, and you must watch the whole thing.

LOL, made it about 12 minutes into the movie. It was beyond bad.
On the other hand I ran across an older movie called We Have a Ghost with Anthony Mackie on Netflix and it wasn't bad. Liked the soundtrack.
Also on the Anthony Mackie theme Season 2 of Twisted Metal is wild.

Don’t need to see it after your review.

I thought the music was pretty good, comparatively speaking.

I watched Happy Gilmore 2 on Netflix over the weekend. Wow, did that suck. As juvenile as any comedy I've ever seen. Not unexpected from Adam Sandler.

There isn’t enough tea in China to get me to watch that movie.

Saw Fantastic Four last night and really enjoyed it. Loved the retro futuristic vibe (very Jack Kirby inspired) and again, stellar cast. I love Pedro Pascal but I didn't think he was right for Reed Richards and happy to be wrong; he does just the right 'nerdy' affectations to make you believe he is that smart and attractive enough to land Vanessa Kirby's Sue Storm. Thing and Johnny Storm are perfect and despite initial reservations about a female Silver Surfer, she was one of my favorite parts of the film. IMO, that's three comic book movie hits in a row (with Thunderbolts and Superman) so fingers crossed Marvel is back on track (and DC is finally in capable hands with Gunn at the helm). Think I enjoyed the plot a bit more here than Superman - if you know about Marvel Comics and Franklin Richards, you know he's a very, very key and powerful figure going forward. Looking forward to Doomsday!

Karl urban? Wasn’t the original Sylvester Stallone?

One of my top 5 all time!! Went to see 50 years after the first time when I was 9!
These closeups were huge. Cinematography and camera angles by Spielberg were crazy good. The broken shark may have made them work harder to bring this thrilling adventure to work so well. Shaw not nominated and winning a supporting actor is one of the worst crimes by the academy. At the time this was the largest grossing movie of all time.

Yes Original was Stallone and had Rob Schneider in it. The remake had Karl Urban and was much better.

Yeah - loved the Urban version; almost a stripped down, man climbs tower to get to final boss type film but they left a lot of lore left to be explored.

So Russell Crowe is going to play Hermann Goring in “Nuremberg.” This is going to be interesting. The potential is mind-boggling. The thing is, no matter how over-the-top Crowe’s acting might seem to be, it will be absolutely spot on. Goring was as over-the-top as any Nazi. Not sure I’ll catch it; it would give me nightmares.

Very good early reviews from the film fest articles.

New Paul Thomas Anderson film ‘One Battle After Another’ killing with critics - been waiting for him to return to form after tepid efforts for Licorice Pizza and Inherent Vice (I did like Phantom Thread but even then it’s because Day Lewis films are rare and even tepid PTA films are better than most). DiCaprio and Del Toro here though - with Sean Penn? Yes please.
