For folks jonesing for more 'Mare of Easttown', highly recommend HBO's 'Task', starring Mark Ruffalo and Tom Pelphrey (won an Emmy for his performance on 'Ozark'). It, like 'Easttown', is created and written by Chester County's own Brad Ingelsby (this show appears to be set in the same 'universe' as Easttown too - at one point there is a police officer from Easttown Police Department recruiting at a career fair) and is set in Delaware and Montgomery counties. It goes even harder into the SE PA cultural identifiers too - first two minutes we get mentions of 'scrapple, 'water ice', and 'ACME'. The accents are all over the place too but it's fine.

Ruffalo stars as an FBI field agent (who is really, really going through some family sh*t) who, while taking some time to deal with stuff, works career fairs until he's called in to form a task force (get it?) to take down a crew of violent burglars, who target drug dens, before a bigger gang war breaks out. Tom Pelphrey plays the ringleader of the burglars and we get a good glimpse into his home life and tragedies that have sort of put him where he is - it's very well done and not something you see a lot of with 'bad guys'.

There is a lot here - familial issues with both leads (Ruffalo drinks giant cups of vodka when off duty to deal with the grim stuff he's dealing with; Pelphrey lives in near squalor as a garbage man trying to climb out of poverty while dealing with losses too). are fleshed out a bit but not fully revealed yet, and the acting is great - supporting cast has some well known 'that guy's!' too including House of the Dragon's Fabian Frankel and Martha Plimpton as Ruffalo's boss at the FBI. Some tense stuff in the first episode and can't wait to watch more - anyone check this out? One of the best first episodes of TV I've ever seen.

Season 2 of Peacemaker drops today.
The first one was pretty funny.

Have been loving it so far this year! Best time of the year for TV - Peacemaker, Task, Only Murders, Slow Horses, SNL and lots of others dropping this fall.

Solid first episode. Surprisingly my wife also really liked it.

I'll add Alien Earth (Hulu) has been really good as well; only through three episodes and I'm digging it though I'm not a big fan of the Alien franchise. Cast is really wonderful and always great to see Timothy Olyphant. Sydney Chandler is a nice surprise for me (she can actually act - just like her dad!) but I really love the casting of Samuel Blenkin as the genius tech-boy founder of Prodigy. I only know Blenkin from his one scene in Atlanta, but he more than holds his own in an interrogation scene as the lone culprit of Paper Boy's missing cell phone. He kills this scene - wish I could find the whole thing...

Picking up the flag on Chandler....

Haven't read through this whole thread, so not sure if mentioned but I just started American Primeval last night. Two episodes in and very good so far.

Mormons vs Settlers vs Native Americans, circa Utah 1857.View attachment 916859

Yeah, I loved this! Betty Gilpin is great in everything and this really scratched my itch for Westerns. I heard there may be a Season 2.....

Sorry if already posted. 6 episodes dropped of 8 in first season, started slow but really enjoying now. On HBO

William of Normandy and Harold of Wessex were two individuals destined to meet at the Battle of Hastings in 1066; they were allies but had no claim to the British monarchy until fate drove them into a conflict over the country's crown.

Alien:Earth last episode tonight and, well, after a good start it wound up sucking. Disappointment and I’m sure they will continue it.

Yea it really went in different direction than I thought it would. I just don’t understand that guys with machine guns cannot kill the alien. This is what made aliens, the second movie so great because they could be killed. One alien killed an entire army. lol. Now it is her pet.

I thought the ending was pretty great and set the stage for potentially multiple more seasons. I am also in love with Sydney Chandler (Wendy) so that helps…

Monster:Ed Gein all episodes now streaming on Netflix. Half way thru and creepy AF!! Odd to see Charlie Hunnam in the lead role.
Just finished this series last night. I thought it was very good up until the final couple of episodes, at which point they just went way over the top with the outlandish campiness. Other than that it was quite good and very creepy, particularly the performances of Charlie Hunnam and Laurie Metcalf as Gein's mother (aka Aunt Jackie). I also thought the guy who played Anthony Perkins was very good.

I came away completely underwhelmed. Agree I though Hunnam and Metcalf and Perkins actor were very good but Ryan Murphy was all over the place. The last 3 episodes were kind of garbage. 🤷‍♂️
It's always been my issue with Ryan Murphy's stuff. American Horror Story always started out gang busters and by the 4th episode was a complete mess.

Going to see the long walk now. Hope it’s good

watched two last night.
Bright burn. A movie but not scary.
Honey don’t by coen brothers.

umm. I would say the title says it all. 45 minutes of strange sex though. Didn’t add to plot at all though. Very odd even for coen brothers and it didn’t come together like most of their movies do. Very odd.

Honey Don’t isn’t a Coen Brothers movie, it’s all Ethan, no Joel. Same thing with Drive Away Dolls, all Ethan no Joel and an incredible piece of ****.

Anyone watching Black Rabbit on Netflix? Great cast. I'm only 4 episodes in but enjoying it so far. It's a limited series of only 8 episodes.

Just finished the last episode last night. I thought it was excellent the way they wrapped up loose ends and ended it. Really strong cast and great storyline. Highly recommend for people to watch.

Just watched the long walk. Man Stephen king knows how to bring you in with characters and dialogue. So the movie is stand by me meets the hunger games.
In both, especially king’s stand by me, the long walk brings you in to 4 main characters with 3 others intermixing. Near the end you are drawn in to each.

I'm interested to see how close it is to the book, it's one of my favorite Bachman/King books.
