The kid was becoming kindof a jerk, but not sure what his motivation would be...... The Wolves have more motivation here....

Could be the kid. And what about his mom (forgot her name) being trained by rosita and being ready to fight. Could it be a set up to get rid of rick's group.

can't wait for episode #2 to see what happens.

Great episode, at first I thought it has to be the Wolves, but I have a strange feeling about Enid.

I liked the black and white flashbacks. Made it easier to follow.

1.) OK, first of all I was painting last night so I claim complete ignorance to parts of the episode as I watched it ... why were they rounding up all of those zombies? Just to kill them I assume? And where did they all come from? I mean there have always been a lot of zombies, but they literally were rounding up thousands.

2.) I hated the black and white, but to each their own.

3.) Where was Carl all episode?

They were trying to re-direct where the walkers were going after they started escaping from the quarry, where they had been growing in number (looked like thousands) since they were all falling in and couldn't get out (until the tractor trailer fell over and opened up an exit). Also explained why Alexandria wasn't getting a lot of walker action since they were all hanging out in the quarry instead of visiting them.....

So, uhm, why couldn't they just build the wall near the truck so that the zombies would keep falling back into the quarry?

I know, I know, then there would be no show.

Still trying to figure out how these slow zombies were able to take out the machine gun turret and the tank from season 1.

Why didn't the lead car start honking their horn to keep the walkers on the road? Or have a nice loud speaker blasting away to keep the walkers with them and avoid the walkers being distracted by off-road noises? Someone could have been playing an electric guitar or something (like on the mad max movie - lol).... Better planning!

ya gotta have stuff go wrong to keep it interesting, and they did not think of everything that would help.... shooting off the guns, flares, ahead of them was the plan

Was wondering about the flares - wouldn't there also be an attraction to the noise being made by the gun itself?

Speculation on my part based on the preview teasers at the end of the episode (and I did not stay up for Talking Dead, it is waiting on the DVR): I think next week's episode is going to show what is happening in Alexandria during the time of last night's episode, and it looks like there are walker issues. I bet the horn won't start honking until near the end of next week's episode.

Perhaps the wolves are attacking the town and the horn is just what they had planned to do all along.. stupidly in this case. It is probably Deanna... she seems a bit.. "off" lately.

Guessing a horn loud enough to be heard from miles away carries more weight as a distraction than a car horn.

My guess is Gabriel, or possibly the wolves (wolves not far away was shown a few times, and that would follow the TWD formula). Either way can't wait until next week.

Awesome Rick scene when Papa Georgio is trying to rally the Alexandria folks against the group. Rick just walks in, says he would have at least set up some lookouts if he were him, then just takes the gun from him and puts him in his place. The citizens of Alexandria are so over matched.

Great episode.

Maybe the horn is an alarm from the town indicating they are being attacked - didn't Michonne say something like "it's coming from home?"....

"Thank God, nothing happened to your hair."
Eugene is a great character. For a while there, I was worried it was going to be his last episode.

Also remember this was supposed to be the dry run and not the actual event - they were just lucky to be at the quarry when the truck slid down and opened up the floodgates. Maybe they would've had more elements for the actual day's execution if it went off as scheduled.

I think getting the horde away from town was a safer idea than trying to build up the walls more and keep the walkers penned in. Particularly with the Wolves around and knowing they use walkers as weapons - why let them have the chance to unleash thousands of walkers in an uncontrolled fashion?

The Preacher is my guess.
------------

here is the thing.... the Preacher is obviously a troubled individual..... he is tormented by the fact that his cowardice led to the deaths of many.... it affects everything
he says and does

so why would a person so conflicted do something to threaten even more lives?.... unless I am missing something here, it would not make sense.... not saying
it would have to make sense

Many things in this show doesn't make any sense. I'm just watching to see who dies next. Rooting for the zombies everytime.

I'm going outside the box here...this loud horn that can be heard miles away, couldn't that be the horn used by the quarry on blasting days? Maybe one of the escaping walkers stumbled into a control room of sorts and accidentally knocked the whole pan off-kilter? Though it could also be the wolves who may have been using the quarry as a walker staging area, so that's still a very big possibility.

Recall what he said about Rick and his posse at the end of last season. I think he wants to bring about their end. Maybe because they know what he did, and the new townspeople do not. Maybe he feels that the walls will keep the undead out.

Also, in the opener he volunteered to go, and Rick shut him down right away. Maybe his way of payback. IMHO he is certainly enough of a coward, and whack job to do something unpredictable.

Question and possible horn blower. Near the beginning of the episode, that scout team returned to the gate. Eugene was at the gate. He said that some woman was on duty, but she asked Eugene to stand in. He said she would be right back, but she was gone a long time?

I missed her name. Who did Eugene stand guard for?
